Should Mesa Re-Issue The Triaxis?

That Michael Nielsen video rips! I’ve never played a real Triaxis. How do they compare to the studio or quad pre tonally?

A V2 would be amazing, but hopefully not engineered in-house. My understanding is the triaxis design was also outsourced somewhere.

I’d love to see them get the Mark I, IIB, and IIC+, III lead circuits in there with the pull functions. A non-fat recto channel would also be nice. I bet others would like to see the Mark V crunch and probably badlander sounds.

The Studio Preamp is IMO a bit more responsive and amp-like when compared to the triaxis, which feels a little flat in comparison. That said, the triaxis is still pretty awesome and can cover WAY more ground with less tonal compromise re: channel balancing.

no, it's not like it's actually every shade of og boogie liquid gain with both gain controls in a 1U real 5 tube rack pre or anything. i mean there's quad cortex for that amirite :whistle

The older I get I just want stuff that is laser focused on doing one thing really well rather than swiss army knives jack of all trades stuff that do a bunch of stuff kinda good.

Maybe it would sell well and be sweet... I dunno... just wouldn't be for me.

I def wanna fuck w that recto they are coming out with that has the black face plate and less knobs.

Big same. There is no such thing as a jack of all trades in amplification - only master of none.

I had a mark 2 version for a while and it was only ok . The reason I sold it though was getting anyone who could work on it was impossible. Tube amp techs hate it and guys that can work on the control side have no clue about the amp side . If you have a problem you can basically only send it back to the factory for service. I was told by Mesa when I had a problem with mine that it was going to take about three months and I should have a backup, when I said what was I supposed to do for that time. It was my main preamp at the time .

An updated Triaxis in a better form factor would be amazing. The 19" depth was crazy. The Triaxis was my main gigging preamp for a long time and I'd love to see them modernize like Synergy and Soldano are doing.

I'm just the opposite, give me the choices to make the tone my own. I love amps like the Triaxis, mark VII, Road King, etc. This stuff isn't hard and it isn't complex to use, and I like having it all in one unit. That's part of the reason the new Soldano 88 preamp with MIDI and IRs is so appealing to me.

I’ve had Roadking and Triaxis and I have an X88ir now. The X88 kills the original and the Mesa stuff.

Only if they use light up rotary encoders.

Those surface mount +/- were the best they could do back in 1990.

I couldn't justify the $1600 or so they cost back in 93 when I got my MP-1 instead, for 1/3 less. But I absolutely loved the idea of being able to dial up all sorts of tones, in a stereo unit, that was digitally controlled so you could switch on-the-fly to anything you wanted with a MIDI controller. Which imo, is even better than a versatile amp. And I still think it's a great idea, if you're like I was back in my cover band gigging days, and wanted to get really close to each song's recorded tones.

But damn did I drool over them! Funny thing though, about 5 years ago I came across a killer deal for one, with a 2:90, for $1300, so I jumped on it! But since I don't gig now, and have an Axe III, I really don't use them very often.

But I do agree those press-buttons would need to be updated. Many times, on both units, I find I want to be somewhere in between 2 settings, and it's just not possible.
