Hats off to the marketing team at NDSP for coming up with the “archetype” concept to get people to buy the same products over and over.

I bet the profit margins on these Archetypes are impressive
Yeah imagine instead of buying a bunch of these you could save up and stretch for an AM4 (in the US at least) HW modeler for example. I’ve got one Archetype and I’m happy I haven’t plunked down any more cash there. Sales are sometimes a bit tempting though.

I think it’s cool they are at least making these compatible up front. I’m curious to see if this and the Mansoor get ported on the next CorOs update, in an effort to make it a faster turnaround to get in the QC.

"Compatible".

Good for them, tho. That's a pretty big "get". There's no plane of existence where I'd care about his or even demo it personally, but it's definitely newsworthy.

"Compatible".

Yeah, I chuckled typing it. :ROFLMAO:

If they port them on the next available CorOs update though, then I think that’s a semi-meaningful designation.

I was kind of waiting for them to get to a point where the new stuff would be turned around quick on the QC and then they’d just pick off the old stuff over time. Makes no sense to let the queue grow with new releases.

It costs them either way.

If you favor the new stuff, you're giving the middle finger to people who bought and love, say, the NTS Suite or the Mark IIC or Mateus Asato.

There were always going to be losers with that piece meal "conversion" approach that they ultimately called PCOM.

Of course, Doug Castro will never sit for an interview where he has to answer for any of these choices.

John Mayer’s iconic rig, faithfully rebuilt in one definitive plugin.

John opened the doors to his personal recording studio in Los Angeles and entrusted us with his most prized tools. These are the pieces at the very center of his sound, refined through constant use and chosen from an extraordinary collection. Distilling that world into a single, uncompromising plugin was one of the most demanding and rewarding collaborations we have ever undertaken.

With sincere thanks to John for his trust and vision, it is with great pride that we present to you Archetype: John Mayer X.

Ya know, I wouldn't be surprised to see him do some kind of canned interview, the guy definitely doesn't have an issue with doubling down on saying some really dumb shit. This started auto-playing last night and I walked into my living room right around this part to hear him repeat the "no one knows how transformers work" BS again. Glad I got an audio clip this time instead of just print from an interview!

(for those who haven't heard me rant about this, the first time I saw him say it was while I was watching a ToneTalk episode where Friedman and I think George Metropolis were geeking the fuck out on transformers for about 45 minutes before stopping themselves because 'we could go on forever about this but we don't want to bore everyone', plenty of people have a thorough understanding of them and how they alter tones in an amp, half the RigTalk guys know this and they don't even work on amps)

Oh, absolutely. Zero marginal cost, and they seem to sell them by the shitton.

Back when the QC launched i argued either QC or plugin customers would end up pissed, because there was no way those two business models could coexist without someone feeling ripped off.

Well, joke's on me. Turns out, people are perfectly happy buying $200 DLCs for their $1700 modeller.
