Only 56. Seems she wrestled with a lot of demons, and then her son committed suicide last year. Hope she didn't as well. God Rest her soul.
Just very sad all around.
Always thought she had a unique and appealing voice. Just yesterday was listening to Peter Gabriel's Us album where she sang on a few tracks.

Yep, she was vindicated a thousand times over for that one, though it came a bit too late to salvage her career. But still, she did the right thing in spite of the risks.

It’s a culture steeped in deep Catholicism.
