Anyone have a clue if this is something I can replace myself with a new part or is this destined for some repair center?

Luckily UA is all over it, nobody has responded from their chatbot generated ticketing system.

Should be a fairly easy fix although I’m not sure how much work would be involved in getting the board out so it’s accessible. Probably best to try and do it through UA although any competent tech should be able to do it with no major fuss

Not sure if it’s a twin or a bigger one but here’s some gut shots:

Yeah I was wondering if it was something that would require soldering or precision, in which case I’d probably just rather have an official tech handle it, but if it was a snap on module/connector or something like that it might be easier to just nab the part and open her up.

It’s an Apollo X6.

Warranty doesn’t cover “induced” damage.

Awfully speculative of them. Im sure ports snap unprovoked all the time, but I wasn’t going to try to argue with a straight face.

$90 an hour for repair work, plus parts and shipping, for anyone that’s wondering. 🤬

if you’d rather put the money towards something else, you could get a Topping D90 (or something similar) and have a baller DAC to use via SPDIF or ADAT. x-series Apollo’s are pretty good sounding alright, mind.

I’m just going to eat it for the repair. Hopefully im only out a couple hundred bucks for it. I enjoy using it and their software, so it’s worth fixing and getting back into fighting shape. I was just hopeful there might have been an easy’ish DIY fix if it was some simple snap on module or something.

I’ll just revert to using the AxeFX as my interface for a while.

$200.76 parts, labor and return shipping. Could be worse. It should be heading back my way tomorrow. I will say, after getting through the hellscape of their initial ticketing system, once I was asssigned a dude, UA has been great to deal with. Great communication and a quick turnaround.
