Relic work?

Is this the most TGP leaning thread on here now??? :unsure:

Coincidence I Think Not GIF

I must be growing softer with age, because I find myself less judgmental
and not as much of a hypercritical dick as I used to be. Not that anyone
here is or isn't?

:LOL:

In the grand scheme of things, is it really an affront to humanity if someone
buys a relic job.:unsure:

For fuck's sake, people antique and thrift shop, wear faded and ripped jeans,
and worn ballcaps. Who really gives a fuck if you enjoy it? I think the virtue
signaling about earned merit is a slippery slope that I personally don't find
any value in descending down. For me, it is just another reason to be skeptical
of musicians, in general, and all the "standards" they have for you to measure
up to, or fail to measure up to.

Working on my blackguard . Body is cut from a water stained old piece of swamp ash that will get the final guitar at just under 7lbs .
The CNC is to a 52 original.

Trying to copy the style of the sanding and all the mistakes on the earlier bodies.

Router hump and uneven lip on the edge of the neck;

And here is a 52;

Quite a way to go but I’m not paying £50k for an original and I enjoy the challenge ( when it’s for me anyway).🤣

I think a 16" radius Neck on a "Blackguard" Tele is a far more egregious offense than a piss poor Relic job, Andy, so there.

:hmm

I fall in the camp of loving relic finishes. Lord knows I can't afford the real thing, so I buy what I can, and if it looks the part, awesome. If it looks absurdly overdone, that's cool too; I'm not trying to trick anyone that its the real deal. The best part of the relic finish is I don't need a guitar stand at shows, I don't lament getting a new ding when I dance into a mic stand, and they just feel more like home in my hands. A few of mine...

“Content not viewable in your region “ is all I can see unfortunately.

The one actual vintage guitar that looks like an over the top relic-
