Quad Cortex Mini

Yeah that's all on Aggregate devices not the QC.

I would make sure you select your Apollo first then the QC and select drift correction on the QC device. Set your Apollo to match the sample rate of the QC (is it 48KHz?) to minimize issues.

Yeah, I have drift correction set on the Mini, clock source set to Apollo, and sample rate at 48 in Logic.

It’s def not the QC, I’m just trying to get cute using an aggregate, which would be ideal.

At this point though I just want to figure out how to configure the setup to re-amp, while still using my monitors on the Apollo.

Spent the morning going back over reverbs and delays.

I find the big thing that’s different between Neural verbs and delays vs FAS is with Neural you don’t need to be afraid to crank the mix higher. With FAS stuff if you approached 40-50% you be washing out. With Neural stuff you need to sit about 10-15% higher in mix to really get going.

Reverbs. I find a lot of these reverbs to be really good. The Nordic and Studio are super clean and classy. 👔 Sit really well. The Blossum verb is dope, especially since there aren’t a ton of character verbs in the QC. Having a ducking control is big so you can really crank it into a massive swells but still sit with your playing. I wish all the verbs had a ducker. I kind of like Neurals shimmer. :bag They give enough controls with the HPF and LPF to either take the top end edge off when doing the octave up thing, or brighten up an octave down. The H90 is still the king of anti-shimmers, but the QC’s is really nice. I used to use the Cave all the time as the only game in town for a big verb, but it’s funny how smooth that sounds to me now. All in all I think the Neural verbs are actually pretty good tbh. I think they could use one dedicated gigantic verb. A Blackhole/Supermassive type, but otherwise they aren’t really lacking for much.

Delays. Neural isn’t lacking shit for core delays. The analog delay is really badass, (soooo good) as are the Digital and Tape. That trifecta is really stronger than I remember. I’m not a big Circular Delay guy, so I kind of bailed on this one. The Dual Delay seems ok, it won’t rival the Aurora MTD in FAS but I think I can probably dial it in better with the time. One thing I do like about Neural delays vs FAS is that the Neural delays initial repeat is softer. FAS delays have an initial repeat that is much more pronounced, which can be tricky to sit without carefully setting the mix/feedback. This kind of make Neural delays slot in really nice. This biggest omission in my opinion is a Deluxe Memory Man. It’s been 5 years dudes. :hmm

Fun fact, I liked that Analog delay so much on the QC, I was like, I’m going to death match that with the FAS Icons analog delay, I know the QC’s is better and I’m going to prove it. I level matched everything, and… gawd damn FAS knows delays. :ROFLMAO: On the bright side it’s razor thin between them and full credit to Neural for punching way higher then is generally recognized.

I didn’t bother with plugin reverbs and delays, but generally speaking I think the QC is in a really good place for verbs and delays. Some really inspiring stuff in there.

The Mini’s unsung hero is the dedicated power button. It’s frigging lovely. :ROFLMAO:

The SLO plugin amp shows the way, by nesting the channel and modes in one model. I wish every model, and all other modelers would do this. I want to select an amp, not micromanage a list of channels and modes of the same amp.

That’s why I want the IIC+ PCOM 😈

I agree fully that QCs effects are amazing and the difference is so razor thin that I really don’t think about it.

Is it a physical push button or is it a touch sensitive power like the big QC

Great post and positive reaction to this thing. Nice!

Yeah im pretty impressed with the depth and quality of the core effects. Some good stuff in there, and the modulation stuff is pretty comprehensive at this point. They are kicking some ass with modulations imo.

Physical.

But, I had to power cycle my brick yesterday and it started back up. I need to test again if does that auto boot thing when it gets a power cycle from the source, but having a physical button is still a step forward over that soft touch thing on the QC.

Great post and positive reaction to this thing. Nice!

In some ways I think the Mini, in its current dev cycle, is sort of proving to be what I’d hoped from the original launch QC. This little bastard is kind of sick. :ROFLMAO:

Mine doesn’t turn on automatically when I plug it in which is nice, but I didn’t know you could change that behavior. I just remember going “oh, the old QC used to turn on whenever it got power”

Yeah I def don’t remember that from the OG. Badass nonetheless.

Try out this Stereo Micro Processor Block trick @2112 came up with. Set the Left to 500ms and the Right to 550ms and you get a sweetheart delay going on.
