Putting yourself out there kinda sucks

The slog-a-thon builds up stamina and endurance. Really? It does.



There is this element of masochism in being a musician, isn't there?
Pretty sure every bona fide attempt carries with it the curse of some
self-inflicted suffering and angst.

The highest of the highs, and the lowest of the lows. And all the oh well,
maybe next times in between.

The things that make it tough for me is twofold. These guys are friends from 20+ years and we are all capable of peeling peoples faces off. In a pleasant way. The other aspect for me is being in my other working band that has to bat gigs away with a stick essentially because we are too busy. Both of these make it tough to tolerate knowing the basic potential as well as the result of successful efforts being made to get to the end goal(s)!

I put a few want ads up to start a Prog/Fusion Rock band in the past year. I am tired of "phoning it in" and
not working on anything, because no one else has the time or passion to do so.

See post above about masochistic behavior inherent as a "musician."

Ahhh man that would be fun. I hope you can get some folks to pull their heads out of the nether regions and rise to the occasion!

My first 3 attempts on CL were both flagged for removal. The band I currently play in is leaning
more and more Bro Country every passing year, and is also on the too content side, and isn't
much into pushing the envelope.

Great dudes. Great friends. Just different outlooks on the whole thing.

4 years after the fact my "Going To An Audition" thread is still in play. Not that I am going to an
audition. Just that the same stuff is all still in play.

It is weird that my personal vanity project is something that no one but me would ever want to
see or experience. So, I guess I am not doing to be noticed or for the attention.


Just want to grow and challenge myself. Every good thing in my life up to this point has been
a direct result of "not settling."

But I'll probably have to settle when it comes to the Proggy Dungeons and Dragons Fantasy.

My little flickering candle of hope is that in spite of how great someone is, it never
voids out completely the human aspect of interacting with others.

Yes, even if you are great you still get to wallow in the shit we all toss one another's way.
Sometimes that shit is more golden, and diamond encrusted.... but it is still just shit at the
end of the day.
