Putting yourself out there kinda sucks

Union Underground - Across the Nation
Nickelback -Burn It To The Ground
I see Dragula but you should add Superbeast
Dig, Happy? (I saw Mudvaynr last year and was very pleased with how good they were live).
Incubus - Certain Shade of Green
Oddly enough I heard Superbeast on Turbo on the way home from the gig last night and thought it would be a great addition!

The top 2 are WWE AF :love Mudvayne and Incubus are on my overall radar because they are both excellent but not sure how the skill level (myself absolutely included) will pan out for something this intricate?

Yeah that’s why I was hesitant to mention them but thought worth a mention.

There’s a small handful of Machine Head songs that would be great for this but aside from some beastly riffs, I wouldn’t want to punish your drummer with Dave McClain’s drums hahaha. I think you could do From This Day safely.

I was actually wanting to avoid punishing myself :sofa

So put a couple of feelers out. Drummer I initially contacted had a modern rock band up and jamming but wasn't yet playing out. I could have dumped 25% of their songs and replaced with good things that fit my needs and we could have been out and rocking. They imploded because I think he is about done playing and didn't want to expend the energy.

I just dropped his bass player a line who I have played with in another band back in the day and am waiting to see if he knows any other worthwhile drummers. I have a bunch of friends including my current drummer but they are all doing too many things or don't want to do anything like this. Which sucks.

So I have a bassist who is officially down.

I have a singer in mind I am going to reach out to. He sings in a local alt-rock band and I think as long as he likes the material he could do a great job with it.

The drums are still the lynchpin for this stuff beyond the singer. And also somehow proving to be the hardest piece to nail down. Fingers crossed another time.

Awesome!! Hope things materialize! Drums can definitely be tricky to find...

"making it"

I'd totally be down to join a band that wanted to play a blend of heavy covers with a few originals thrown in if we get inspired. Even put some recordings together if it gets that far. But delusions of grandeur of "touring" beyond a few hour drive of Denver? Fuhgeddaboudit. This is about creating and performing for me, not cash.

It's nice that Denver has a pretty good scene with a lot of places to play but it definitely sucks that for the most part you'd have to drive 10hrs before getting anywhere remotely worthwhile out of state to start a "tour":cry:

Sometimes I'm envious of east coast bands that can regularly book around multiple states without ever having to get too far from home

So 8 days later; here we are.

1. Singer that is interested. My old LOG does death metal ripoff singer from years ago. He is down and sounds like he is truly interested!
2. Bassist that was previously down has not responded to "Hey; we have a singer!". Not a big deal but sort of the epitome of how this thing seems to be playing out.
3. Drummer options are still non-existent. I probably have a few people that I could talk to about it but in reality would end up just like the others I have reached out to. Happy to be good friends but not interested in actually doing the work.
4. I might just ask my current bass player and drummer to see if they will try an audition with the singer to see how we vibe all these years later? He has a killer death vocal but there is a fair amount of melodic singing involved here that he probably doesn't do on the reg.

Honestly; the first get together should be a litmus test/jam session on the song list we go with and just see how the vibe is between the players I've picked. Myself included. I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to proving the meme in my post above this one right :hmm:rofl

Whenever I get roped into making dinner, I wander around the kitchen singing "Two... Two Hot... Two Hot Mitts..." And so on. :D

(I'm sharing this here because no one in my house gets the reference. No matter how often I repeat it. Counting on you.)
To be fair; it's a prettttttty niche reference

That’s why I said From This Day and not Imperium XD

There was a funny story about “From This Day” on @JiveTurkey’s favorite podcast, The Garza Show. I guess Suicide Silence was touring with Machine Head and Garza is a huge MH fan, he asked Rob one night to play “From This Day” and Rob thought he was trolling him. It went on for weeks until he finally realized Garza was serious and wasn’t trolling him, but he wanted to kick his ass until then. :rofl

I thought for sure it was going to be a Katatonia song.
