PRS Rules of Tone Series

TLDR, there where various numbers thrown around:

When reading from this own "rules of tone document":
  • Neck bow 0.002"-.004"
  • Action a little above 2/32" (0.0625", 1.5875 mm) - That's around the area I shoot for 1.5 mm
  • Nut action about 1/64" (0.016", 0.4mm)
Later on
  • Nut height set so the first fret clears with a G-string - I'm going to assume 10s, so that would be .017" - That's around the area I set it to (0.018")
  • Clearance at the 12th fret - .032" - .040" (0.81mm to 1.016mm) - that's a bit too low for me
    • He said 0.020" is too low (agree) but .060" is too high (umm I consider this in the low action zone so disagree)
  • Clearance at the last fret - about an A string or an E string (so let's say .046", that's 1.1684mm) - that's way too low for me - Suhr targets 4/64" (1.59mm)
  • Neck bow - 0.003" to .004"

My personal targets are:
  • Nut action - .018" clearance at the first fret on the 6th E string
  • Neck Bow - 0.005" at the 6th or 7th fret.
  • Action at 12ft fret - 1.5mm at the 6th string, 1.25mm at the 1st string, 4/64" (1.6mm) at the last fret 6th string
