Polyphonic pitch. Perception is everything I guess

I can’t speak to FAS’ solution but I enjoy using poly capo in HX - I have a guitar set up in E standard and D standard so I haven’t used it for guitar in a hot minute, but I’ve been happily using it with bass to learn D standard tunes without having to mess with my setup.

Yes

Also yes.

I'm not even sure that I myself, notice when I'm playing/listening to it, or at least, whatever song it is, takes over my brain, and that's what matters, in the end.
Good to know. At most; I need a full step down. It's good on the FM. I never had the Stomp when they added the Poly stuff so never had it to compare.

A step is good. And it working on bass is a good sign of the quality I'd say as well.

I honestly vibe out playing bass lol, try and lock in to the drums, I’m way less picky about my actual tone than I am hitting the notes exactly when they should be hit. Martin Mendez’ bass work on Opeth’s Damnation is just :chef

Playing bass.....can be really fun. I wish I would have let myself be a little more open to that possibility earlier in life.

My bass tracking routine-

Tune bass.
Record 1 first pass without thinking about what I’m going to play at all to acclimate my fingers to the bass/get ideas.
Get baked.
Headphones.
Record the actual bass track.

I approach bass so differently after I smoke, to the point I don’t even consider myself ‘playing bass’ until I have because that’s when I start writing bass parts instead of just copying guitar parts and if there’s a groove to be had, that’s when I’ll find it.

I don't imbibe but the whole bass playing mindset and the kinds of grooves and riffs it puts you on to is a blast. As guitarists we get so focused on that sort of competitive rat race (that I would never be at the forefront of anyway). I could have gotten a TON of bass gigs over the years if I didn't have some sort of stupid hangup about it.

I find it funny that as I have been intermittently searching for a recent video displaying Poly for downtuning a guitar and all I keep finding is stupid reverb drenched jesus riffs that no one in their right brain would listen to let alone play. JFC; play some Morbid Angel riffs on a 6 string :bonk:bonk:bonk:cuss:cuss:cuss:satan:satan:satan

There is a Marbin video about reverb drenched Jesus riffs you might like :D

I tried the new Boss XS-1 today and I have to say, it was solid for poly shifting. None of the lag or artifacts that I have seen with the others. Really solid unit!
