Polychrome DSP Nunchuck

where did the baseline code come from?
Probably SPICE with some modifications or custom stuff. But ultimately, if the product is good, it doesn’t really matter how they get there.

It’s definitely as much about meeting customer demand and making a good experience as just having a good product. Can’t afford to skimp on anything.

Sure. These are solved problems, and they are going to attract more artists than tech innovators. Art is important. Its why people pay hundreds of dollars for clones of simple circuits that can be built from parts costing .50c. If it makes you feel a certain way when you look at it then only you can decide how much its worth.
Yeah that’s maybe half of it. With software, part of the reason I’m happy to pay for it is it is a product and when money exchanges hands I expect some assurances with maintainence and compatibility. It’s the boring part of the job that makes it a job rather than purely a creative endeavour. People can moan about waves all they like, but they’re always one of the first to be compatible with each new OS update and their stuff is solid, no matter if it’s a 20 year old project or 2 week old one. Audiority (and presumably polychrome) have been very reliable for me so far, and regularly provide updates and quick support.

Already own the McRocklin Suite. Wondering if Nunchuck or Kiesel offers anything new besides the whammy? It does look like it's based on a different Marshall style EL34 amp.

Greetings New here — hope everyone’s doing good. I know this thread’s kinda old, but I figured I’d throw in my 2 cents since I’m looking to grab Nunchuck second-hand.

Biggest downside for me so far: you can’t re-order the effects. Same deal as Neural DSP and a bunch of others. And yeah, no way to stick anything between the preamp and power amp either. Most devs dropped that option ages ago ’cause they were worried about cutting into amp sales, so everything’s just baked together. Even the mighty Axe-Fx III (sounds insane, millions of presets making kids happy all over the world) doesn’t let you split ’em.

Thing is — if you actually wanna sit a tone in a mix or chase something really specific (think EVH-level tone chasing), you kinda need that flexibility. Otherwise it’s just presets and vibes. That’s why I keep saying tone chasing with sims is kinda a myth unless you’ve got Axiom, Revalver, or TH-U. Axiom’s the real MVP here since they finally let you load 3rd-party VSTs right inside it.

That being said — Nunchuck still sounds killer. Super solid capture. If it had the routing freedom I just mentioned, I’d be in heaven mixing Howard Benson’s Marshall, Wizard, Bogner hot rods, Bogren Digital Bad Boy by Euge Valovirta, and their one-knob Plexi — all in one sim with swap-able preamps and effects order.

I guess you could still just capture those amps and load ’em yourself…using blue cats Audio Axiom but its $200+ so yeah, not exactly cheap fun.
