Please ignore

@Jim Soloway, even I remember you from TGP's playing and theory section, your contributions there have been worth reading/listening.

Thing is, it happened more than once that people joined this forum just placing a link to a video showcasing a product of some sorts, often mutliple times and without them participating in any other way. Most people round these parts don't like that kinda behaviour (I'm rather neutral on the very issue). And as at least some of them don't know you (many metalheads around...), they possibly got rubbed the wrong way.

And that's pretty much all there is about it. Personally, I wish you'd stay - even if it only was because it's a good thing to have some decent players outside of the metal realm around. But I think you're offering quite some other valuable stuff, too.

And fwiw, while the sounds this amp sim delivers seem to be quite nice, I'm not sure they're *that* outstanding (the main sound, as often with clean stuff, is coming from the guitar and playing anyway). But then, maybe ease of use at an affordable price is a decent enough selling point.
The interface looks like the equivalent of a Geocities website from 1998, though.

If you have nothing to do with owning the plugin then there’s no need to absorb this feedback personally.

In 20+ years on TGP, Jim’s always been polite, sincere, and interested in adding value. He plays beautifully, and he’s been known to build excellent guitars. I don’t think he’s wrong in thinking the culture of this forum isn’t a good fit. Sometimes worthwhile stuff gets posted here, but you have to scroll past a lot of noise and sometimes downright nastiness to get to it. TOP may be cold and stuffy at times, but I don’t think you can get that many people on a forum and maintain a good signal-to-noise ratio without imposing buzzkill-level moderation.

You know what? I quite like the noise.

If that's your choice I'd respect that.
You have members here that post everyday saying nice things about Jim based on past experiences. I think that stands for something. Not sure what else to say. I prefer not to be cynical.
I think you’ve misunderstood me. I don’t have an issue with Jim or this thread (in its original state). When I first saw it, I too thought “oh, another video spammer,” but that was the beginning and end of that thought. Even at this point, aside from thinking he’s maybe a bit overdramatic and sensitive to criticism (even when that criticism isn’t levied at him or anything he’s created), I don’t have any thoughts on or issues with Jim. As I already said, if he’s all everyone says he is, that’s a great addition to the community here (if he doesn’t run off).

If you reread my comment, I think it’s obvious that what I found peculiar about this thread was the comments and responses from the everyday posters.

@Jim Soloway I hope you stick around, I've been reading your posts for years at other forums and you're a good contributor.

Didn't we have a section for introductions or something like that? Maybe I'm misremembering but then we could give a proper hello!

You are assuming facts not in evidence. Let me repeat this AGAIN ... I HAVE NO VESTED INTEREST IN THIS PRODUCT. Seriously. I got exactly what every beta tester got: a free copy of the prelease software. I have no agenda and my preference would be just to have this go away.

And I will also repeat for the third time. I was asked to check out the site. I have now checked out the site. It didn't go especially well.
This site wasn't always like this Jim, but recently it's turned to 💩, and it's not worth the effort here anymore, too much "rage" by too many self-titled "experts".

I should note that the above only applies to the digital and modeling forum IME, haven't checked the others so they might be fine?

Congrats on your retirement!
