You are assuming facts not in evidence. Let me repeat this AGAIN ... I HAVE NO VESTED INTEREST IN THIS PRODUCT. Seriously. I got exactly what every beta tester got: a free copy of the prelease software. I have no agenda and my preference would be just to have this go away.

And I will also repeat for the third time. I was asked to check out the site. I have now checked out the site. It didn't go especially well.
I feel somewhat bad about this interaction cause you seem like a genuine enough guy. I guess from the forum locals point of view here, we see these kinds of posts a lot and the vast majority of times it’s from bad faith shills or people telling half truths about their involvement etc

Second to that a lot of us massively have our ear to the ground with digital products and plugins and can quickly get a sense of how these things will be received. A gui like that one stands out so much compared to every other modern product that it’s hard to look past it (at least at first glance).

Plugins are insanely advanced now, there’s no way that this plugin will ever sound substantially better than helix native, neuraldsp, mixwave, polychrome dsp and the 100 other amp sims already on offer, it’s a highly competitive market.

If you have nothing to do with owning the plugin then there’s no need to absorb this feedback personally. I think it’s valuable information that should be fed back up the chain to the developers to improve their product before launch. Your playing was great and the sounds were decent enough. You’ve done your part and you did it well.

I think I've already said at least once that I didn't nuke the OP because of the comments about the UI. I don't agree that the cosmetics should be a determining factor but I don't insist that anyone agree with me. I have specific demands of both hardware and software. Cosmetics is very low on my list. Other people feel differently and that's their right.

On the other hand, I have a very low tolerance for being accused of unethical behavior. I have a pretty good reputation in the guitar community earned over many years. I value that reputation. I also learned long ago that nothing is gained by displaying my temper and in a forum setting the easiest way to not act out in anger is to either put the object of my anger on the ignore list (I assume there is such a thing here) of just delete the thread and let it go. I am unable to delete the thread here so I did what I expected to be the next best thing. It doesn't seem to have worked out very well.

lol no one accused you of unethical behavior. good grief. you got one comment about the mildly spammy nature of the post, and you took your ball and went home.

Anyone who has been on the guitar-related forums for any decent length of time knows you and that you are a genuinely well-liked, well-respected and talented person. Welcome aboard and we look forward to your continued presence!

I feel the same. I read quite a few of Jim's posts over the years at TOP, and really dug the guitars he was making back then.
I don't like to see someone get turned-off this way and leave. Yeah, everybody is built differently and we all receive comments in a certain way. At the end of the day we're all old, grumpy men (some older than others :grin), so we have that in common at least.

Hmmm, the tones do not seem so bright that you would need to put on sunglasses to listen to each clip.
Since you mentioned it, I would like to hear some brighter tones from the models just to get a better sense of the character. I do like the low mid punch in the tones though, reminds me of an older tweed amp.

You have displayed your temper, I think. I really don’t see a lot of negativity going on towards you, but you may be more sensitive to that kinda thing than I am

Well, that was shitty to read through.

Jim's always been a great contributor to forums and surely has plenty of insight that can be of interest to many of us here. I do hope to see him stick around. Sometimes this forum can effectively shit in one hand while wishing in the other with the whole "I'm glad this place is here so I don't have to go to TGP" that's often stated.

1. I don‘t know who has what reputation on TOP
2. I don‘t care who has what reputation on TOP
3. The post looked like spam to me (it wouldn‘t have been the first time we experience this this kind of thing here)
4. If it‘s indeed not what I was thinking… good!
5. Acting like a (as we say in Germany) offended liver sausage didn‘t really help
6. Can I still ask the obligatory pickle question?
