Pictures from when you were a kid.

My brother and I, soon after we started learning guitar and drums in the mid-1970s, he doing paradiddles with sticks and me with a rental guitar from the place that I was taking lessons at.

In a few years, both fans of Rush and playing in garage bands, he on a Slingerland set that he later expanded with roto toms and chimes, etc., me on a 1979 Gibson ES-335 through a Peavey Mace.

Decades later, perhaps still kids at heart, we'd play a few Rush tunes for fun when getting together.

I was 17, it was my cousin’s wedding and she asked me to play Buckethead’s “Over The Hills” (I think?) when she walked down the aisle. Unfortunately, I was a little shit and put no effort into it, I learned the song but didn’t have any kind of backing track, so she walked out to me playing the main melody over and over and over, just a solo guitar. I felt like such a dick, my buddy was supposed to record a drum track on our 4-track but I never got it done and yeah….that was pretty awkward. :rofl

Plugged that acoustic pickup into the front end of the Legacy, used the clean channel and a shitload of delay from that old Digitech unit in the loop. I miss that rig so much.

I was 16 or 17, I got that Legacy 4x12 the day before this. This was actually my counsin's wedding and she asked me to play Bucketheads "Hills Of Eternity" for her to walk down the aisle to. Unfortunately, this was riiiiiiiight at the start of me getting into Pantera and while I got a drum track recorded on a Fostex 4-track, I didn't learn anything but the main melody line. No changes, not overdubs. But I know I had a giant bag of weed in my gigbag at this wedding! :ROFLMAO:

That was my first acoustic, an Alvarez (non-YarI, I plugged that picture directly into the delay unit then into the front of the amp and it atually sounded GREAT.....unfortunately, I just repated the melody the whole time. A couple years ago that cousin came to stay over and let me have it, 20 years after the weding. :rofl "You lazy little fuck! I was standing in the kitchen and I hear you just repeat it, no chorus.....but we had to walk, there was no time! You little fuck!!!"

Still carrying some of that in the gigbag? 😉

Clearly!

Funny, in one of those I claim I DID have the drum track recorded, but I’m not remembering it that way now! I know I talked about getting it recorded but I know it definitely wasn’t used at the wedding!

Edit- WTF, that was last week I wrote the first post?!?!?! I’m kinda dumbfounded right now….

Edit #2- Ahhh, the 17th, now I know precisely why I don’t remember. Wonder what else I got into that night…

Some of my best memories are going fishing as a kid. I really need to get back into it. Great way to decompress and get away from all the noise.
I always feel a lot better after I go out. It’s hard to make the time to do it with life going on, I try to go twice a month at least between April and October. I’m too much a bitch to sit in the cold for ice fishing and I think I’d rip my eyes out from boredom if I wasn’t drunk (I think drinking is part of that?)
