I thought it was pretty strange that Jake didn’t wander out and play BatM himself, but yeah Nuno nailed it. Even the outro, which is arguably wilder than the solo.

As for Guns and Roses, I was blown away that they played not one but two songs in a row off of Never Say Die. Talk about your deep cuts.

The whole thing was great IMO. Even Steven Tyler - not generally my bag - was insanely cool yesterday. The only part of the show where I was hoping for a giant cane to enter stage left and drag the singer off was when Sammy Hagar sang that Rock Candy bullshit for about 9 years. Goofy ass song with no contextual relevance (“I sang this song here one time”), sung by your embarrassing uncle who runs a liquor distribution company.

Not too proud to admit: Peewee Herman/ Gary Numan singing Changes actually made me cry, and I was only one beer in.

HELL YEAH. Apparently my wife had tried to get me tickets, but they sold out too fast. I was blown away that she even tried.

All-day sabbath fest yesterday; Dad Sabbath practice today. It’s like sabbath nerd camp over here.

I’m not a GnR fan, and I haven’t listened to Never Say Die in years, but I liked the whole spirit of their performance. The fact that a band who was as big as they were for as long as they were chose such obscure material for that massive event… simultaneously ballsy and respectful somehow.

Nuh, I just watched the stuff that’s up.

Even though it’s just 3 hours by train I kinda decided to not go down memory lane with stuff that mattered to me as a kid.

Seems I remember them much much better than anything now.

That said I actually watched a live performance from the 90 and the guitars weren’t tuned down yet and the tempo wasn’t lowered to Stoner Rock level.

I saw the Scorpions in 2008. They were pretty tired sounding even then. Klaus Meine is one of my all time favorite singers. Rudolph is one of the reasons why I play a V. I just ignore the whistling song and Tease Me Please me garbage. I'd say (with all of the love and musical admiration in the world) it's probably time for them to retire by now.
