nnnnghhhhhh I want a 5150III

This is how much of an in-experienced poseur metaller I am. I've never owned an OG 5150 or 6505!

Same here. I played one once in '93. I had just been playing for a year so I had no idea what the hell to do with it. It was loud AF is all I remember.

When I had my PV 5150 I fought with it until selling. Later I bought a 6505+ and like it quite a bit. I had it modded to have the option of the 5150 value differences and could find the perfect balance between the two.

I do like the EVH versions but they are a different beast for me. The OG are just raw.

Pro tip: don’t bother

The OG 5150, cranked up LOUD; is a legendary beast. I like the IIIs I've owned and the II/+ is fine. But there is something about that raw ass honky grind of the original that just :satan

Yeah, I don't know how anyone could say that is not a decent amp, or unworthy. It's insanely cool.

5 years ago you could score one for $500 or so. Nuts! I wish I would have bought 3 or 4.

I think I paid $350 for mine in mid 2010s. Literally!

I have a HUGE nostalgic tie to them as well. Second amp (after my first Dual Rectifier) I heard in person that had me taking notice of a sound I had to get myself. Sometimes the crusty evil classics are just what the doctor ordered.

I've heard the Iconics are great bang for the buck and the one I tried (at admittedly whisper volumes at GC) seemed to have that familiar rasp to it.

My fingers are just broken, or something I don’t think they’re unworthy, in fact most of my favorite tones of all time are the OG. I just suck

Bugera cloned them, so they have to be good.
I had one in a moment of "sold the original let's see if this piece of shit does the trick" weakness years ago :bag

Needed new preamp tubes and the world's overgated noise gate but it was almost ok.

Outlandish statements warrant outlandish replies.

For me, "Crunch" mode on the Rhythm Channel was worth the price of admission alone. I didn't
jive as well with the gained up Lead Channel. The 5150 OG was basically two dirty channels. We
don't need no stinkin' Clean Channel. Now that's fucking ballsy! :love

I have no idea how Bugera/Behinger ever gets away with what they do. I also took the
plunge. It was the 333XL whatever, that I think was a take on the Peavey JSX (Satriani). It
definitely had tubes. :idk

My guitar player had one of those. It was super flaky. The pots had the cheapest feel to them ever.

Very turdy and not too sturdy. I was lucky enough to sell before it broke beyond repair.

Owned both and I wouldn't buy an OG 5150 again. The most sterile amp I have ever played through. The 6505+ OTOH was pretty nice for the Brootz.
