I traded my Epiphone Wilshire with the P90's for this Fender Telecaster yesterday afternoon. The Wilshire sounded great but the neck was a chunky D shape I just couldn't bond with, but I definitely want a P90 guitar in the arsenal eventually because it sounded so good!!

This Tele is practically brand new and is one of the Fender Standard Made In Indonesia Tele's that came out this year. So far it seems to be built pretty good.

The stock PU's are not the greatest, but that is an easy fix. Anyone want to recommend pickups for this for Rock N Roll tones?

For rock at a reasonable cost, I like the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Tele set (~$130). Really thick sound and hot enough to get cookin' when you turn up the gain.

Alnico V magnets

Congrats on your newly acquired Tele.

Thank you! I have been researching Tele pickups for more of a Rock vs Twang. someone mentioned those and some are saying the Fender Nocaster 51's are a good set for rock too. I'm in no hurry for now but plan to make a few minor upgrades like a better nut vs the plastic one that is in there now.

EDIT: BTW, those pickups sound awesome and what I'm looking for!

I got a free partscaster tele last year that honestly plays pretty damn nice, probably worth like 100 bucks lol. It looks EXACTLY like yours (from afar lol) Happy NGD!

Thanks! This one plays great, but I cant wait until this one gets beat up a little :rofl

Well after playing this thing for a few days, I noticed mine did not look like the ones in the review YT videos.

For starters, this one has locking tuners and that is not how it comes stock. It also has Brass Bridge Saddles which is another upgrade.

The biggest surprise is that it has Custom Shop Nocaster 51 Pickups already in it! I watched a few YT videos on these pickups and realized they didnt sound good to me because I was treating them like HB's. They sound a lot better when you make a few minor adjustments. I think I did good on this one!!

New strings and a setup to my taste is in order today and then I'm going to play the hell out of this one :pickle

Awesome, congrats!
I was going to recommend the Dimarzio Super Distortion T in the bridge, area T neck... but looks like you should spend some more time with it before jumping too quickly into swapping. :grin

I agree 100%! I have never owned a Tele before and the Strats I had prior I just didnt gel with so they got moved on. So far this Tele is everything I need/want for a SC guitar for now.
