Been curious about the nf53 since the US model dropped but not $2800 curious. Got excited when the SE version came out, with the end of year sale couldn’t resist

Preliminary impressions I am quite impressed fit/finish/setup great out of the box. I dig how the pickups sound, definitely a unique thing going on. My s2 ssh has a US narrow field in the middle position but it can’t be used in isolation so I can’t compare much between them lol.

Only complaints: there is a small rough spot on the back of the neck behind the 7th fret, less than ideal but not enough for me to send it back. The neck pocket could probably be a bit tighter but it’s not horrible

I have two rehearsals with two bands in a row tonight so should be able to put it through its paces. I’ve tried it through my badlander so far and rehearsal 1 will be ‘76 deluxe reverb and rehearsal two will be mark IV

Congrats!

These things FLEW out of Sweetwater this week - the white and purple doghairs were already OOS, but there were five of the black and a few of the pearl white just two days ago…and those are all gone as of today.

My GC has one each of the black and white doghairs. I prefer a white one, but the one in the store has a high fret. The black one they have seems to be OK, but I’m gonna wait for SW to get their next shipment in a few weeks.

So… this thing fucking slays :love

Tbh I’m not even sure what my expectations were but any conceivable expectations were blown away. I’ve tried my fair share of SEs and owned an SE silver sky for a bit and this is easily the best one I’ve laid hands on. This guitar has no business being as good as it is for the price. The pickups are rad as hell across the spectrum of amps and gain levels which is a huge relief. I was a bit apprehensive about that as most “S” versions of PRS pickups have sounded a bit lackluster to me outside the ones in my vela. I have a suspicion that they do a bit less “intentional neutering” of pickups that aren’t easy replacements like standard humbuckers

Sounds truly phenomenal and was inspiring me to play on fresh ways which is always a sigh of a keeper

As far as “does it sound like a tele” questions go… well… sorta… I’d call it tele adjacent and gets close to tele sounds but it definitely occupies its own distinct space that sounds different than any sort of guitar I’ve had before

Honeymoon and all that but wow

Glad I leaped when I did…. Was on the fence, I ordered from AMS they only had two left in this finish and that helped push me over the edge. My heart sunk a little when I first unboxed because the aforementioned rough spot on the neck was literally the first thing I felt but after playing it for the last 5 hours - its an unfortunate QC slip up but I can’t say I noticed it at all. Definitely a keeper that exceeded what I would’ve hoped

First rehearsal of the night was a band I often both fill in for and sit in with, this gig next week is just a sit in and I almost always use my silver face deluxe reverb with. No question the best tone I’ve ever had with them with this setup. In fairness I will chalk up a big portion of that as to having a more diverse dirt pedal setup going on. In the past it’s always been either an SD-1 or HX stomp dirt pedal models. No disrespect to the dirt pedal models on the stomp (or an actual sd-1 for that matter) as they sound great, but using the ikon archer by itself or in conjunction with the @Stomp Under Foot dire wolf or eqd dunes is next level

Very cool guitar! Just about every SE I’ve ever held has impressed me. What’s the neck profile like?

It’s chunky but very comfortable, I was a little apprehensive about how I’d feel about it as I don’t prefer fatter necks but it he radius and shape make it pretty comfy. It’s chubby not an obscene baseball bat neck like the wildwood ‘55 thin skin tele had

<ears go up then back down after remembering the bridge>:facepalm

Ha I love this bridge but I can see how it might not be for everyone. It was one of the things that drew me to the vela too

Sounds awesome. I used to have one of the OG Santana SE models, and that thing had a total Goldilocks neck profile on it. Insanely comfortable.

My favorite neck profile is a nice chunky Les Paul or C shape Strat - gotta have something to grab. My hand cramps up with thin necks for some reason.
