Oh defenitely. Even no switch at all is better than the rotary.

Still, I just love Strat switch positions and I usually prefer blade switches over toggles, too.

I'm the opposite, I'd rather have a toggle. Blade switches still look weird to me on PRS guitars because I'm so used to seeing the toggle and rotaries on the earlier models.

Well, what I have in mind would look weird anyway as the position would have to change.

In that position, I'd rather have a blade swich, with the slot being parallel to the two pots.

Yeah a blade switch would look better there than a toggle.

Gonna be quite an effort, so I guess I'll first play some gigs as is before having some woodwork done (which won't be cheap, either).

Pretty sure I'll redo the electrics, though. Played a whole lot since yesterday and as with pretty much any other guitar (but my Ibanez 335 clone, which is a different thing anyway...), I again noticed that having no master volume is something I just hate - especially as the neck pickup volume pot is often covered by the whammy bar arm.

Oh man, I love independent volumes.... and Les Pauls.

Fun going from a cranked Bridge PU to a rolled back Neck PU tone.
:chef

Cool how we are all different and want things how we want them.

Well, I've got no issues with LPs and their volume controls. But they've got no vibrato arm constantly hanging around where the neck volume pot is.
Will very likely do the master volume mod today already.

And fwiw, those pesky pot toppers will be exchanged in favour of something meaningful, too. Likely silver dome speeds.

First operations done.

Replaced the saddles with Graph Tech ones. Thought I wouldn't like the black, but I think it's actually ok with the black trem arm and switch knobs.

Also replaced the pot knobs. Much better to grab now. And I like them in silver, IMO they look kinda more streamlined.

Then I took one tremolo spring out (IMO 4 have too little tension for 10-46s) and replaced 2 of them with silent ones from Harley Benton. Kept one original in because I'm actually not quite sure whether the silent ones provide proper connection to the string grounding (should measure one day). Greatly reduced spring noise now (already started going on my tits when playing unamplified). Gotta say that the springs it came with are of horrible quality, the pins on the vibrato block side of things apparently were hammered in or something, had to use pliers to get them out and once they were out they were quite bent. And no, I'm not doing all this for the first time, far from it.

Coming up next: Re-soldering. Not much for now, will only turn the bridge pickup pot into a master volume.

Well, I played quite a bit while standing earlier (kinda simulating gig conditions), and while the toggle location isn't anywhere as bad as while sitting, the idea of having a blade switch in a strat-alike position one day is certainly growing on me.
Will play a few gigs before, though, as I need to make an appointment with my guitar dude anyway. So maybe somewhen around February-ish.
Locking tuners first.

And fwiw, I'm absolutely happy I gave this another try. When done with everything (minus re-positioning the switch), it will be around €1000 plus some hours of work, defenitely worth the money AFAICT. At the moment, I can't stop grabbing it, the entire thing resonates more than any other guitar in my posession. It's kinda as if I can feel the thickness of the neck (which I absolutely love, one of the reasons for why I wanted this one in the first place) all through the guitar.
