Thank you very much! And that is a excellent question.
I have one guitar in need of pickups, my PRS 594. I thought I had pickups for it, but they sent ones with the wrong covers, and that specific "matte etched gold" are unobtanium. I may try the BKP Polymaths in the easily found "gray etch", I think they'll look almost as good - just wanted to match the brass parts of the bridge/tailpiece. Once I get the Polys in that I'll know if it stays, if not, I will sell and replace.
Then I have my Ibanez S, which I need to figure out the problem with lowering the pickups. Original and new are both short leg DiMarzio, so maybe I just didn't get the wires out of the way, but need to rip the strings off and figure it out. Was a rough day doing pickup swaps on three guitars at once! Didn't initially notice it, but these Pandemoniums need to be significantly lower than most pickups, or they get really hairy.
Then I have a Vox Bobcat V90, that doesn't get played a lot AND a banjo.
Man oh man, that top looks like someone's warp engine exhaust manifold was leaking plasma and it ignited as the ship went to warp speed toward the lower horn.
Oh, and I'd love to fondle at least one of those balls.
