love it. i have so many superstrats that are laid out like this--alder body, maple neck, rosewood board, HSS configuration and non-locking two-post tremolo with locking tuners and a tusq nut. and it never really gets old to me. :)

this is one by john suhr, and it has his wonderful DSH humbucker and two V60LPs in the neck and middle. what an amazing sounding guitar.

this one came in on thursday and is a nice complement to my tyler classic, which is swamp ash as opposed to alder and has tyler's super humbucker in the bridge and their 5500 single coils (alnico 5 magnets optimized to work with 500k pots).

coming soon to a recording and at a church gig...

Awesome! I love those V60LPs. :rawk My classic s has the regular SSV in the bridge position, though.
Have you tried the SSV? Curious to see how it compares to the DSH if you have.

Interesting - I like the SSV because it's got some bite without being too hot (generally).
I haven't tried any of their other humbuckers so I may well like another one more, but I'm perfectly happy with the pickups as they are. :beer

Enjoy that fiddle!

yes. the original suhr i had in antique yellow/cream or whatever the color is called (the predecessor to this one which i sold to my friend) had an SSV. the SSV is a lot brighter and has way less output. if you dig more of that PAF vibe, then you will dig that. for superstrats i always dig a hotter bridge humbucker than in, say, a les paul. strats with their bolt-on necks seem to have less natural sustain, and so that's why i always dig a hotter pickup like a JB or similar in output. for les pauls i definitely do not like overwound pickups, so that's a different approach for me.

the DSH is a lot hotter and warmer/thicker than the SSV. it isn't nearly as honky as a JB and it has a big, ballsy sound. i should record clips on pro tools but i used it on sunday at church for the first and third songs here.
