I’ve been more of a Super Strat guy who loves humbuckers and have only owned a couple of single coil guitars. I found out a couple of weeks ago that my luthier friend who does most of my work was building a Strat with EMG David Gilmour pickups. He was using a neck he built years ago, rosewood fingerboard in a maple neck with maple inlays. It had a 12” radius, but he made it compound 12” to 16”. It has vintage style locking tuners and they feel great.
This guitar sounds amazing and I really think the pickup choice is perfect for me. The pickups sound amazing and don’t have the noise of single coils. Might even be quieter than my humbucker equipped guitars. Neck carve is super comfortable and seems similar to a Warmoth Standard thin, but maybe slightly more rounded. Stayed up way too late playing it last night and started in first thing this morning playing again. My Les Paul is extremely jealous and keeps looking at me suspiciously wondering what it did to fall from grace. I keep reassuring it that they will both get play time at the gig next weekend.
