New Pedal Day - Maestro pedals on sale from $149 to $40 in person only at GC

So I was checking out The Gear Page earlier today and I saw someone posted that Guitar Center was having a in store only sale on Maestro pedals. They're discounted from $149 to $40 in person only at GC stores.

So I went down to my local GC and tested a bunch of diffrent ones. I bought the last 2 Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M pedals they had because they sounded pretty close to the classic Gibson Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz Tones on mid '60s recordings.

The other ones like Chorus, Delay, Phaser OD and Distortion sounded good, but they weren't really based on a previous classic Maestro pedal and I already got plenty of those sounds in other pedals.

My son's into a lot of '90s alternative and shoe-gaze sounds, and this pedal gots a toggle switch to go between classic and modern fuzz so I'm going to give the second Fuzz Tone I bought to him.

Not sure how long the sale will last, but I was at my local smaller GC a couple hours ago and they still had lots of Maestro pedals left. BTW the sale applies to all the diffrent Maestro models too. Chorus, Delay, Fuzz, Envelope Filter, Phaser, OD, Distortion etc.

Man that's cheap. If I include my time I can't build pedals for $40. It's worth getting one just to make some noise for a bit.

Apparently Maestro pedals not discontinued or anything. The dude at GC said they just bought too many and clearing them out to make room for other stuff. He also says the sale will last until April 30 or until they sell out.

I bought every one of each model they had, I think I only missed out on the compressor and the tremolo.

Didnt give me warm fuzzy feelings about their quality

The one I got is a bit funky too, the delay level is really weak. Haven’t mucked with it yet, but I’m planning on it this weekend.

I was bummed because it’s a killer deal and I love the looks of them.

The first one was completely dead, and the second one dropped the guitar volume by half when engaged. I tried multiple power supplies. It was really weird for a new pedal

GC is blowing them out, but so is Long & McQuade in Canada. That kinda rules out the “Oops, we ordered too many” theory. Unless both companies buried themselves in inventory…

Yep, manufacturing issues more than likely. Sucks for the brand. I love them purely based on retro aesthetics though.

Gibson should offer them full credit if the inventory is garbage. But I agree on the aesthetics. Probably why I bought one of each model.

I haven’t opened any up yet to inspect the guts, but they’re pretty solid feeling overall.

I might go back and check out the chorus and delay pedals to see what those sound like. For $40 bucks, what the fuck?

They ordered a standard batch which in hindsight is "we ordered too many"

Hahaha I gotta run up by my GC later today, I’m glad I just checked a couple demos out before going in. I only checked out the fuzz but that ain’t for me. Slightly curious about the others but I’m probably better off not even thinking about them.

They wouldn’t be saying they ordered too many (or drastically dropping the price) if they were selling. I dig how they look but I have no idea what I’d do with one.

I saw these in person and they looked like junk. I could be 100% wrong but it was enough to make me keep walking past them.
