New Friedman IR-X preamp

There is a slight audio dropout when switching channels or engaging the boost, for those who are curious.

I have to say I suspect it's rather good as the Andertons video sounded great from the first second and those guys haven't the greatest history with anything remotely gainy.

I had to assume it would be decent for Friedman to put it out because that dude has always hated amp modeling.

It's basically what I was hoping for out of the Iridium. Two channels, knobs for everything, no fussing around to get a good sound.

This isn't my amp now.

It's very fast, similar to switching channels on a tube amp. Faster than switching channels on an Axe FX 3. But not gapless.

Just watched Michael Nielsen’s video. Yeah, this thing rocks. I could see one on my board with a delay pedal and be completely satisfied.

Also there's very little noise even with the gain cranked all the way up. Not sure how that is. I have the noise gate disabled on the Axe 3 and it's very acceptable levels. Roll the volume knob down to 7 and it disappears. Another very impressive thing.

Yeah I noticed on the software as well - it wouldn't surprise me if there is a updated syn1/2 which has the same capability of Poweramp emulation etc.

I think this Friedman pedal is a well thought out product - I could pay a little bit more for a syn1 and preamp and then feed into my Fractal for Poweramp goodness

I think Dave was asked this once on a livestream and he refused to comment in a way to suggest that something new was definitely in the works.

I have to resist on this one... even though I like what I'm hearing and the fact you can even get a good clean sound. Need to curb my expenditures a bit.

Yeah you bought my Syn 1 and a module that I think was the BB/BE. To me the BB and BE were voiced rather different which is fine for some things but I tended to stay in the BB with pedals and ride the volume knob. Cool pre but didn’t really use the BE much for my gig. I was contemplating getting another Syn1 and a Powerball module since it was more like two similar voiced channels with different gain capabilities. I want to leave my Helix in my studio and thought gig the module and a small pedalboard would do and I could leave it packed up. Then this rolled along. I’ll share my worthless.02
