New Bogren Digital plugins: Ampknob BDM Bundle

I wasn’t particularly interested in their Recto/5150 one knob plugins, but this set of amps has caught my attention. It kind of makes sense for a Marshall-type amp that doesn’t have a huge range in terms of EQ. I have to admit the metal panel aesthetics are appealing.

It looks like the BDM 75 is hinting that it’s the Marshall that was used by Refused.

Looks like Iggy Pop

I really enjoy the plugins, and made also a demo (shill, shill!) and compared it against the JVM as well. It comes pretty close!

I am currently anyways knee-deep in the Marshall Tonehunt (got a TSL100 for repair here, got the JVM JS as a long time loaner and still in the honey-moon phase with my JVM410H), so this amp just hit home at the right time!

I am going to try and see if I can match these now that Fractal has updated the JVM
For the Bad Boy , Euge says
JCM800 w 6550 tubes
Boss SD 1 in front , he says it’s modded w a 150 watt transformer that you can’t turn master up past 6 or the tubes melt not sure how to emulate that any ideas @MirrorProfiles
JVM mode 3 I am guessing is the orange mode 2 pedal is a screamer

I matched the old JVM Model fairly close by cranking, those settings should still work aside from adjusting the treble and presence a bit.

2203 should be easy, I don’t think his sounds particularly different besides where the gain kicks in, which is just going to be a case of fiddling around with input level and bright cap. I have a 2204 that gets gainy quick like that too

Maybe play with power tubes, bias and B+ voltage a bit but I bet you can get close without having to do much.

The Super Lead is the one i’m most curious about, I’d love to know more about that specific amp and what mods were done to it.

The 75 apparently was owned by Swedish punk band the Refused
The Marshall he says he had was an early 800 heavily modded
I wonder if it was the 2204
IIRC that was the last one to use the plexi stack before the 800 it was late 70s
I think the model in the Axe Cliff said uses that plexi stack not the 800 so maybe start there ?

The “Plexi” 2204 is the first year of production 50W’s, they don’t have cascaded channels and aren’t very popular. Lots of people have modded them to the standard cascaded 2204 that came after.

That refused amp looks like a 4 input one rather than a 2203 or 2204, guessing it’s been modded to some kind of 2203/jose/cascaded gain stage mod as it seems more 800 ish than plexi to me
