This afternoon, I bought a used DV Mark Neo 2x12" cab (horizontal, open-back version) for a really good price (270€), in perfect condition.
The seller was very appreciative as he's clearing out his stuff due to a chronic illness. I can't imagine how awful that must be.
Anyhow, I brought a LAB head and my Epi LP Modern, and was really surprised at how good the cab sounded. Very nice response all over, serious "oomph" if needed, etc.
Even reminded me of some well-known industry standard speakers, but I can't really put my finger on which that might be.
Anyhow, I did like what I heard! A real nice surprise, actually - I expected to be underwhelmed, since that cab doesn't seem all too popular...
And the weight!!!!!! I'm actually SHOCKED. Had to laugh when the guy said "go ahead, try and lift the cab".
So far, things are looking good. Honeymoon, of course, but I've already decided to sell my Katana cab. The DV Mark sounds way better, has more tolerance (300W @ 8 Ohms), and is about half the weight.
Feels like a bag with a guitar + some cables and pedals, weight-wise. Flabbergasting, I say.
I've looked at the Jensen Tornado a while ago, a pair of them even spent a month in my Thomann cart, but the DV Mark cab today sold for less than the Jensens, as it was a no-brainer deal.
What are your experiences, anything you wanna share? Feel free!
PS: Also got to try his Amped 2, and now I got a serious onset of GAS for an Amped 1. These things are much louder than I thought, and respond "like a real amp". Blackstar might otherwise be a boring affair, but pedalboard amps they seem to have nailed. Would make a pretty cool power amp, I guess. In the end, my board and guitar might be heavier than amp and cab, LOL. Not in a hurry regarding the amp. Still, GAS, that b*tch all of use surely know.
