NDSP Quad Cortex

FWIW I’m a “classic metal” guy (usually) who loves his QC, and I run into scenarios where the noise is frustrating and a gate becomes a necessity more often than I’d prefer.

“For me” none of these devices is perfect. Give me the QC’s usability, the FAS noise floor, the Helix’s variety of FX, etc. Now we’re talking. Until then, the QC is “perfect enough for me”. (Now that’s a weird turn of phrase lol.)

Why not just go over to an FM9?? The size?? Complexity?? Genuinely curious.

I believe the differences in the amount of gain you and Orvie generally go for are pretty far apart.
Indeed I don’t use super high gain….it stops at “appropriate for rock”.
Ime you can get any unit to hiss when you feed the tiniest amount of hiss into high gain stuff..add a decent amount of compression in front ..and the hiss party becomes even bigger ;)

If you’re going to criticize someone’s playing you better have something to show for it.
It’s my opinion that people who use way too much gain do so to cover up shitty playing. It’s my opinion. Sorry if that strikes a nerve and maybe it does because for some it’s true. Give an ad hominem don’t be surprised to get one back.
