NDSP Quad Cortex

Not to beat a dead horse (does that stop any of us?), but file me under "Already happy, and have lost track of what all the hubbub is about." And the only other file I can imagine existing is, "Don't want a QC so who cares?"

I'm personally disinterested in 99.999999% of the products at my disposal, and I don't lose any sleep over it.
Yes… they have even picked up pace with updates but won’t get credit for that here. Was surprised to see the new verbs this week.

There is zero reason to harbor negative energy over a digital modeling device or a company that makes them. Full stop lol

I mean, I'm not gonna get on a high horse I've probably recently been kicking. Lord knows I can get cranky about just about anything. :D

All I'm saying is I use a Quad Cortex (or two) every day, and for the right player*, they're fucking great. No one is getting screwed here. At least not anymore.

*The wrong player - meaning one with different needs - should keep their money, obviously.

For me it’s like - you’re not gonna seriously give a shit if your buddy drives the same kind of vehicle as you do. They may like their shitty Dodge, and you know your Toyota is better, but you love them more for it.

I am not comparing the QC to Toyota FYI, I’m just saying the “I love my thing, it’s ok they love their thing” is the right way to be

Not my take away in the first place, nor what I meant to imply with my Heineken post. I just thought it was a funny example of people getting worked up about other people's preferences.

WHICH, for the record, is not what I think Drew is doing anyway. I don't think he has any problem with "different strokes"; but rather he is concerned with the principle of it, the quality of the product (or lack thereof), and the ethical compass of the company. I just haven't come away with nearly as negative a picture overall as he has. Acknowledging that I started paying attention years later than he did, and then mostly paid attention by way of using a QC 1st hand - and ignoring Discord, Facebook, et al.

I wasn’t implying you thought that! I just felt my comment might be read as “mine is better” but I don’t feel that way

About the only thing missing for me now is the ability to save Blocks independently like you can do in Fractal Land.

As a work around I just made a blank Preset named “Saved Blocks” and copy and pasted the blocks I want to keep into it. This way I can just copy a block from this preset and paste it whenever I want.

How would you compare the new unit with the Nano? I know the Nano is more limited and doesn’t have amp/models, but in terms of money, is it worth going for the Mini over the Nano if you don’t have either?

I don’t know who this was directed at, but I’ll give my take.

TL;DR; If you need long or complex fx chains and/or want full amp models to tweak with lots of switches/encoders, the QC variants are the way to go.
If you run simple fx chains like noise gate -> OD -> Amp -> Delay -> Reverb, the NC might be more your speed if you don’t mind being “limited” to captures.

The QC and QCM are nearly the same device: The full one if you need all the foot switches/encoders or the mini if you are looking for more of a rack drawer/tabletop experience. My QC is on my board and the QCM is on my desk now. You also get full amp models, captures, and all the fx.

The NC lives on my small board or in my backpack when I travel with a guitar. It’s really a capture player primarily with a fixed, but very useful FX chain. On all the NDSP devices, I use mostly captures of my amps so I’m probably in the minority of users in that regard. The NC lets me take my personal amp tones with me in a compact package that can be powered via USB from a battery or even directly off my iPad. Super handy and very compact. Many find the NC limiting without a screen, but it does have dedicated encoders for typical amp controls. I love having those dedicated controls. It reminds me of my old Ax8 in that regard.

Is there no poly capo equivalent on Quad Cortex? Watching some YT vids and that came up as a criticism.

Edit: never trust what John Cordy says… Later in the same video he used the Transpose block…
It didn’t have transpose at the start. That came later, so depending on what year that video came out he wasn’t lying lol
