NAD: The Mesa-Ning

I was actually just messing around with my Lp into the F100 with the mids cranked and it actually sounded pretty righteous :rawk

Trey (often) runs a Mark III with a GEQ in a “reverse V” shape with the mid slider cranked up mad high lol… and also is known to stack multiple tubescreamers as well

i guess it all depends how its dialed!

thats awesome about the f100! i read that thing about the amp getting stiff and more forward sound... im honestly not sure i agree there with mine.. but its not an f100. i love what it does to the midbass above 7 though and it gets THICK above the bass knob frequencies so it doesnt flub. and for cleans it knocks it outa the park if you can pull back treble with mids way up.

Yeah the F definitely has some similarities to marks but definitely distinct

Ngl all your chatter about your II has me wanting to revisit my III without the artificial GEQ from the stomp. I basically only messed with it without that day 1 and haven’t gone back since but I find your commentary enticing for experimentation

He Midwives more Mids into existence than even I think is permissible. :brick

In fact....

How effective it is depends on where the treble knob is pointing.

That inherent interactivity of a Mark is something I love so much. Probably the same
reason others maybe come to loathe them. I just feel like over time, and with some
experience and experimentation, you can get gobs of juicy overtones and harmonic
content other amps can't touch. :love

And then tomorrow, it is all gone.

Ok, last part is and is not a joke. Marks are paradoxical like that. :chef

I still feel like they could all use multiple graphic EQs or maybe a graphic + another knob EQ.

If I had photoshop skills this is where I’d be putting together a Mark VIII with a gain and volume knob and the rest of the front panel would be GEQs.

My S/O calls that, "tube gremlins". They come in at night, and mess with stuff, so it sounds different the next day.

Aftermarket footswitch arrived today…. Open it up give all 3 buttons a nice little test click… ope the switch for contour is busted just totally stuck in place. And even worse, stuck in place off which I have 0 interest in the gain channel without the contour mode active lol . At first I start messing with the nut on top wondering if it’s too tight, not the case and in my fiddling and twisting I inadvertently rip the soldered wires out of the sockets :facepalm

Pop open the back, fully remove switch to see if it’s unstuckable (it’s not). But all good, I just soldered the wires to the terminal for contour to just be always on. Didn’t really need that to be switchable anyways

Kind of annoying and frustrating but I have no interest in going through the process of sending it back. Mayve I’ll ask the guy for a replacement switch but it’s not really a big deal

Anyway very stoked to finally be able to FS this amp now
