Hey!

I’m super stoked to share my latest acquisition — Mesa Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt with a twist.

I picked up the last one in stock at my local music store, and it came with the chrome diamond faceplate and matching chrome knobs.

After spending hours playing this amazing amp, I decided to take it a step further!

I reached out to Mesa Boogie via their support page and ordered an original black diamond faceplate and a full set of black knobs to give it a more dark and sleek look.

First I had to remove the chrome faceplate and replace knobs:

Today I've finally got the faceplate! Uhh, they at Mesa/Gibson are sending any shipments once a week, but I waited for two weeks for some reason.

The transformation is killer—this thing now has a serious, blacked-out vibe!

And finally!!

And speaking of those tones, I was absolutely blown away when I first plugged in. The thick, aggressive sound is just incredible, it’s got that perfect amount of punch and clarity I was hoping for. The low end is so fat, but still tight enough when boosted to stay articulate. Just cranking it and letting the beast breathe is enough to put a smile on my face every time.
And not yet explored all the modes, staying mostly on red one.

Does this model have the parallel effects loop like the non-multiwatt had?

Oh. I looked it up. It has a series effects loop. The parallel loop on the 2005 era was a really goofy choice.

Just when I thought the forum was endorsing Mark's as the official amp, the DR is making a roaring return...

The blackout looks great. Did Mesa indicate that they still have some inventory of these faceplates? The black tread plate is out of stock on their online store.

Why not just spray paint the tread plate?
I'd be afraid I'd screw it up. (I'd want to keep it for when/if I get tired of the blacked-out look.)

With all those raised diamonds, Idk how you could scuff it up properly, and get right into all those little corners. Paint applied to chrome won't stick.

And if you get it wrong, it'd probably be a hot mess to fix.

If you're never planning on using it again..., well that's different.

I’d like to keep the original. Just wanted to look into the optional replacement. I’ve read up on the replacment procedure. Looks like the most common way is to heat up with a heat gun to loosen the 3M tape, so not exactly an immediate swap as I thought.

I can’t deny that the OPs amp looks great in black though.

I doubt that they would not have them in stock since I suppose the faceplate is the same as used in the reissue. Anyway I contacted them through support ticket and got back an online invoice
