GOOD LORD.

I've been a Fractal guy for 20 years. I decided to go all tube as I've never had one before. GLORIOUS.

Running a Strat, btw.

I have channel 1 set at fat, with a classic V on the EQ. Switch from non EQ to EQ and have an incredible boost with very slight saturation.

Channel 2: Full gain on the IIC+...incredible sound. Also classic V on EQ. Need to get a delay pedal.

A couple of questions. What do people use to mark where their knobs are? Masking tape? Stickers? I want to play with the Crunch side of Channel one, but the settings for the Fat (and EQ) are PERFECT and I don't want to forget where I put them, LOL.

Also, looking at getting the TC Electronic Spark Mini to boost Channel 2 for volume. I'm running it at 25W with the Master at about 9 o'clock. Am I going to run out of headroom? Would it be better to get a distortion pedal for a crunchy rock sound through Channel 1 instead?

Would you mind running your Fractal (IIC+ model without cab sim obviously) into the FX loop and report back ? Really interested to hear your opinion.

I sold all of my digital stuff, sorry. I will say that I basically used the Mesa modeled amps with the Fractal products, and the amp sounds more "airy". It's hard to describe.

No worry! How did you use to monitor the Fractal ? I asked that question because "the missing link" may well be a power amp with a cab if you're not totally happy with a modeler + monitors or headphones. Especially if you play at relatively low volumes (which might be your case using a 25w).

I've played modelers through studio monitors (Genelec 8341s with sub), PAs (EV PXM-12MP), FRFRs (PAs with less accuracy but disguised as a cab) and cabs.

My favorites in order: cab > PA > studio monitor > "FRFR". Why ? immediacy > accuracy. FRFRs sound boxy.

For playing loud with a drummer: 2x12 or 4x12 cabs.

Missing detail: use models/captures of preamps instead of full amps models.
I’ve used full models into cabs for years…worked great…but not doubling up on the poweramp closes the gap in full.

I had an Atomic CLR, and used M-Audio Bx5s to mix.

I loved it, but always dreamed of having a Mesa/Boogie and it isn't disappointing!

Meh. The missing link is…that he doesn’t own any digital modeling gear anymore and instead is focused on a cool new amp that he’s really enjoying.
