Looks like the size of a Marshall StudioI woke up from an afternoon power nap today and discovered this in my music office. My wife is awesome. I haven’t asked for anything but she does check my reverb from time to time.
I can’t open it until Christmas. The curiously is killing me.

My wife must have dug around my reverb account and saw this was at the top of the list and in a store that wasn’t quite local but on the way to family she visited last weekend.
It’s a 72-74 Silverface Bassman 50. It appears to have all the original iron. It sounds incredible with my tele, huge 3D clean sound on the normal channel and you can tell it wants to rock harder with some additional volume.
I’ll get more pics up later because I might need to crowdsource figuring out the state of the internals…as it goes with vintage amps you just never know.
I’m inclined to eventually have my amp tech transition it to straight up AB165 on the normal channel and investigate potential train wreck mods for the normal channel. For now I just want to live with a week or two and see how I like it…once I verify the filter caps are in ok shape.
My wife really kicks ass and this is the coolest gift I’ve received in a while. It’s not the best of Fender’s vintage stuff but I’m looking forward to getting it up to snuff and providing it a new life here.
Oh yeah!Ok guys great success.

Yeah! I love the amp but I’m also bummed that I didn’t get to go to atomic! I’m keeping an eye out for an opportunity to get out there.Very nice! Was this the Bassman you were talking about? Nice score and great wife \m/
I’m not totally sold on the AB165 which is why I want to live with this amp a bit as-is. It might just get a PPIV master on it and something more interesting on the bass channel.I don’t think they mark the output but that’s a 4 ohm jack on the back. I redplated mine by hooking up a 16 ohm cabinet.
AB165 is probably my least favorite Bassman variant, just wondering why you’d convert a channel to that one. My favorite mod is adding a Mids control.
Very cool gift!
