I don’t know much about Mick but that article sure outlines a lot of perseverance. My daughter has the same back/spine condition he does and considers him an inspiration.

You forget he was about 7 years older than his band of misfit dickheads.I loved the stuff he was playing back in the day... I don't know that I would have expected to see so many old Strats in his collection. I thought there would be more 80's type guitars with Floyds on them since he was big in that era.

Different strokes for different folks. I was in High School in the mid 80's, and I consider MC one of my all-time favorites. You forget he was about 7 years older than his band of misfit dickheads.
Can you tell I would've never listened to 10 New York seconds of that shit if it wasn't for Mick?
I think Poison, Winger, Warrant, (despite how amazing Uncle Toms Cabin is), and the jumping-the-shark round of Slaughter/Trixter/Nelson, etc., of '90/'91 are the bigger reason hair metal got slagged off. But that's a whole other conversation.Motley are the reason jagoffs in the 90s slagged off hair metal. They have all of the stereotypes. Yet, for some reason, they were allowed to continue on. Regardless, I love Mick's playing. I just wish he was able to play with a group of guys who weren't total fucking creeps.
Oh. I thought it was the hairspray, make-up, spandex, and light-weight pop songs that were the problemThe notion that "every song is about strippers, hedonism, chauvinism/misogyny, and drugs" is basically a wordy way of saying, "Motley Crue."
When a person is asked, "what don't you like, musically, about hair metal?" that is generally the stereotype they focus on. What you are mentioning tends to be what they rag on, which is something a bit different.Oh. I thought it was the hairspray, make-up, spandex, and light-weight pop songs that were the problem
I mean, I don't think Beavis and Butthead were making fun of Winger over Strippers and debauchery, but what do I know. When a person is asked, "what don't you like, musically, about hair metal?" that is generally the stereotype they focus on. I never was a MC fan, and that was mainly due to Vince’s godawful vocals. When he basically killed Razzle, I was done with him altogether.Mike Judge was not much of a rock fan. I love Beavis and Butthead, but I've gone back and watched some of the 90s stuff, only to find that he got a lot of shit wrong.
That's also what I meant about "what people rag on."
I like Poison, but the image and MTV aspect was pretty goofy. That said, Motley Crue was just as bad. On top of that, they -- as people -- are pretty mediocre as well.
He's basically in the David Lee Roth mold. However, he is DLR's negatives amplified, with very few (if any) of his positives at all.I never was a MC fan, and that was mainly due to Vince’s godawful vocals. When he basically killed Razzle, I was done with him altogether.
