Mesa Rectifier 2x12

I’ve kept tabs on their site for Mesa 2x12s over the past year or so. I always thought there would be a catch with the cheaper cabinet, like it being a Compact model since they also have a separate item for the Horizontal model at $969.

There does seem to be many opinions that it provides a bigger sound over other V30-loaded cabs.
I confirmed with them that the dimensions are the full size specs.

Show off! :rofl

What’s the difference between the Mesa and Boogie badged versions?

I keep forgetting you have the Dyne too.

I don’t think there’s any difference beyond the badge, which does have an effect on how the cab sounds when out in front, at least at home, as mentioned above. I’d say the bigger MESA badge disperses the highs a bit, almost like a beam-blocking effect?

I got the Boogie badge one on sale for 1/2 price because the store was closing. I think they had custom ordered it. I’ve never gigged it, it just stays at home, whereas the other MESA one is my main gigging cab and has been for about eight years.

As a Dyne update, I no longer have that large-shell version in the first pic, just sold it. But still have the medium-size one. That and the MKVII are my only amps now.

I'm trying to decide between the 2x12 diagonal and the 2x12 vertical - any thoughts?

I'd take either over the short/fat "I don't know what I want to be when I grow up" Recto 2 x 12.

:sofa

Not trying to stir the turds in the toilet. :lol I honestly have never bonded with the Recto 2 x 12.
For me, they can take what are dense and super thick amps and make them even denser
and thiccerest. :idk

I also confess to enjoying semi-open and open back cabs (especially in a 2 x 12 format)
more than the super focused and projectile like closed back 2 x 12s.

Huge fan of the Road King 2 x 12 or the old school Recto vert 2 x 12 for that reason. I just
find them more versatile and adaptable. :popcorn

So...4x12 then?

Just buy a Badlander, a Recto 2 x 12 and if you don’t gel with that killer combination, ship them to me so I can run a battery of tests to verify your findings. Said tests may take years and updates may not be available during that time, so your patience is greatly appreciated.

I got my Recto 2x12 at under $400, and I love the thing. I run it in stereo with an Orange 2x12 that has the same V30 speakers and it's gorgeous.

I think the ppc212 is really close to the Jim Root, if not the same just w/o black tolex… someone will be along to correct me derisively if Im wrong though.

EDIT: Correcting myself derisively:

From Orange -

JIM ROOT PPC212

The #4 Jim Root Signature PPC212 shares the same dimensions as the PPC212OB, but its closed-back construction and 12″ Voice of the World speakers give this cab a very different character. The low end response is quicker and more focussed making it an excellent pairing for modern styles. Whilst the Jim Root signature cabinet has less internal volume than our larger PPC212, the overall sound of the #4 Signature cab is well balanced with a slightly more pronounced upper midrange. Made from 18mm birch ply, the Jim Root PPC212 is finished in black vinyl with a specially developed black version of the Orange basketweave grille cloth with Jim’s signature ‘#4’ plate on the front. Whilst this cab is a great match for a number of Orange heads, it really shines when paired with Jim Root Terror.
