The JP2C was a "modernized reissue of the famed Mark IIC+!!"I don't know squat about Mesas but how far off is the JP2C from this amp?
Not far off. Blind test it would be hard to tell variants of the Mark amps apart. Some have different feels when playing and some have a lot of pre-filtering options (the II, III, and IV especially), but generally speaking you’ll get 95% of the way there with any Mark amp, including the JP2C.I don't know squat about Mesas but how far off is the JP2C from this amp?
I will tell you this, the JP2C has a secret weapon that makes it way better than this new reisues. It is the Shred Mode.I don't know squat about Mesas but how far off is the JP2C from this amp?
@nicolasrivera how far is Flux Drive from a generic TS9/SD-1?I will tell you this, the JP2C has a secret weapon that makes it way better than this new reisues. It is the Shred Mode.
For metal players thismakes the feel and tone of the Mark as tight and agressive as you will ever need.
MESA makes as pedal that will get you 99% close to that Shred mode, its called Flux Drive. This pedal will make any Mark amp better, period.
So, if you want a really versatile Mark for that king of money, the JP2C is the better choice.
The Mark VII's IIB mode is the only one i would say i worth it in that amp, the other modes are the same as in earliers releases, nothing new.
2 Key knobs, BASS and TREBLE. BASS knob is powerfull to cut whats needed to tight that gain from the initial tube in the Mark amp. And just by turning the gain knob to 0.5 or 1, its enought to get that final tough in the gain of the amp.@nicolasrivera how far is Flux Drive from a generic TS9/SD-1?
I look at the Badlander as the producer's amp really. Very easy to sit in a mix.I would say yes, REALLY good for many reasons.
- Good form factor being not too big.
- Simple knobs layout that gets the job done. Very easy to dial.
- NOISE is VERY LOW on it, I guess due to the way they laid out gain stages. Crank gain to max and it is whisper quiet.
- Take boost like a charm.
- Reactive load/IR built in.
- And finally the SOUND. In my opinion is very good and balanced. Somewhat refined and well rounded that works well in recording situations.
And as mentioned before I think it was a quite a bad marketing and naming. It has nothing to do with actual rectifiers sound wise and feature wise. It is a versatile amp on its own.
Sounds like a Timmy to me...2 Key knobs, BASS and TREBLE. BASS knob is powerfull to cut whats needed to tight that gain from the initial tube in the Mark amp. And just by turning the gain knob to 0.5 or 1, its enought to get that final tough in the gain of the amp.
Now, in a clean channel it can get in the ball park of a TS stile amp, but that too close to a SD1.
The Flux, im recommending to achieve what the powerfull Shred Mode in the JP2C achieves.
100%. It was my fixer amp on my last album. When I needed to go through songs and make little edits, it was the perfect amp that fit every song.I look at the Badlander as the producer's amp really. Very easy to sit in a mix.
I have the Timmy, but its not like it. IMO, this MESA Pedas was tailored tune with a MArk amp in mind, i have too many pedals and not one matched as good as the Flux.Sounds like a Timmy to me...
I’ve heard rumors of a C+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.Sounds like Randall also designed the ++ RI, for the haters in the back
The man himself says it’s better than the regular + RI lolol

Feel free to continue on with the Gibson this and that talk tho![]()
I've heard it on good authority that eventually the C++ will just be replaced entirely with a digital version, using some programming language.

Started on C99 as a latecomer. I’m stumbling through C++ now trying to learn some DSP engineering basics. C++ is like Michael Myers, it won’t stay down.I always preferred plain old C when I was a dork going through a “vintage programming phase” at 13![]()

If it makes you feel any better I’ve been doing it as a career and I’m not particularly good at it either!I honestly wish I stuck with the whole programming thing… it was a fun hobby I was obsessed with in my early teenage years. Never something I was particularly good at but I had a lot of fun![]()
