Mark V head for $1500. Good deal?

Don’t let the 10W setting slip by on you. Some of my favorite tones from this amp are when it’s set to 10W. Really. Oh yeah, CONGRATS!
I'm going to give tweed mode a go at some point!
Unlike earlier marks I do suggest experimenting with running the presence pretty dang high for high gain tones on the V

Glad you’re digging it so far!!! To me channel 1 and 3 are the more “set and forget” channels. I do quite a but more experimentation on channel 2 tho
Yeah i was running ch 2 and 3 with gain, presence and treble controls in very similar Badlander areas. I was pretty surprised by that actually. Amp is very pissed sounding :satan

Tweed mode is great! The only quirk is that it seems to make the reverb much more quiet. I'd rather just use a pedal for that.

What powertubes are in it? I found it quite sensitive to tube swaps and I'm currently running 2x SED =C= 6L6GC in inner tubes and 2x TAD 6L6GCM-STR Redbase in the outer tubes.

My tip for Edge mode is to turn the treble down and not try to run it like the other channels and modes. It's bright AF otherwise. It's a great sounding mode especially boosted with an overdrive, but needs to be dialed with less treble, more mids and bass than most modes. It's the only mode I run with treble below noon.

On the Mark I mode instead it's best to run the treble quite high, bass almost off, and keep gain much lower than you think, like even below noon can still be a good bit of gain on that mode.

It has a pair of Mesa 6l6 420s on the inside and 6l6 441s on the outside. The 441s on the outside have some markings on them. They light up and the amp seems damn loud. Is this normal?

Congrats JT! The V is hard to beat, I am going to get rid of my JP2C because the V is just what I jive with most.

I want to have a sit down with a VII at some point, Randy calls it his "swan song" so that makes me want to experience it for sure.

More thoughts:
1. Fat mode quite nice for "bolder" cleans. I suck at dialing in anything less than sandpaper to the face but this is quite nice!
2. Tweed mode is a bit honky in a good way. It will take some careful consideration to dial in.
3. Crunch continues to be good \n/
4. All channel 3 modes rip :satan

My comment up top stands that perceived gain is a big deal on these amps as volume rises.

Biggest thing about Marks in my time with them these past few years. They tend to be much noisier for me because I crank treble, gain and presence controls. Where all the EMI and other high pitched noises live. I have to consciously limit myself on these controls to like 75% tops, even though this Mark (at least) can get some really ripping sounds up that high. I might need a noise gate.

I run my eq on all channels, using the same settings and at loud home volumes; it works across the channels? Mild V with channel mids at non-existent. I would love to try this at a practice at some point.

Don’t be afraid to at least test out turning that “mild V” to a -pronounced- V for the :satan

These amps have so much mids that even an intense scoop will still cut through the mix no problem

As far as noise, interestingly I recall always running my ISP g string with my first Mark V, bht my current one is dead silent (that said I do have whatever the global gating on my HX stomp is going on so maybe that’s a thing. It’s still much quieter than my III or IV tho)
