Line 6 mystery product speculation

Maybe a hint, maybe just Halloween?

I was asked to jump in and help with hardware layout/UI/UX. Feels like it was three years ago.

Satisfied? Does not compute.

It's not, but here's what I predict:

Day One: What the hell?! Line 6 product development is LAY-ZEEEE.

Day Two: Oh damn, that actually sounds REALLY good, especially for the price.

Not much longer now.

If you compared this thread to the Fractal mystery product thread you should have known that it requires a little more to get things going than that.

Come on Tim! You can do it. Get this ship out of the dock damnit!

can do what? the vp4 interface gives hope to fractals next axefx interface being improved which will be nice. And i look forward to like6 nexus in 2025

Obviously LAY-ZEEE is a huge clue. Anagram, Pun, right? ;-)

Glad it's not a standalone neuro device ... for purely selfish reasons.

Breaking the key points down:
  • Lazy
    • Perhaps because it's a derivative of existing products.
      • PodExpress Upgrade?
      • PodExpress Downgrade? (There was a prior comment from Eric about low end competition getting pretty good....)
      • Catalyst (Combo Amp) Derivative?
      • PowerCab Derivative. Compete with FR-12 and FR-10. (Old comments from Line 6 about the oppotunity in the last mile of sound reproduction)
      • HX Stomp Derivative
        • Perhaps along the line of what they did with the HX Stomp XL (a Stomp with more buttons)?
  • Sounds good
    • Why wouldn't we expect it to sound good? A cheaper version of an existing product?
    • Old tech being brought back?
  • Especially For the price

And it has to be "interesting".....

So obviously it going to be more in the POD express , Catalyst range based on the “Damn that sounds really good for the price “comment

Very possible.

What would they build that would require a lot of the people from the Helix/HX firmware/software side that would impact the 3.8 schedule?

An Uber Catalyst?
A Micro Pod?
HX 4? (4 buttons, 4 effects. Naahh)

I'm a fan of Dolby ATMOS for film and even for music in some respects, but the whole immersive experience for guitar still really really relies on one's playback system. Unless you have an ATMOS-worthy system, the whole exercise is pointless IMO.

For simpler setups like what DearVR does, maybe? There's a big assumption that users will have a playback system worthy of that as well, and in our experience that's rarely the case. I can imagine all sorts of calls to CS wondering why their binaural effects aren't working, only for us to discover they're listening through a mono PA speaker. Maybe it makes the most sense to actually build into the playback system instead? Not sure.

It's fun to think about tho'.

Line6 has been teasing this meme for a while.

Not sure what would qualify as lazy and sound good for the price that Line6 would do that would be interesting.
