I think the Stadium Road Map is:

1. Release Stadium Floor units
2. Release Stadium derivative units
3. ????
4. Profit

Thoughts on a Stomp successor:

- same I/O as old Stomp
- one DSP core
- a 5” touch screen plus rotary encoders below
- keep a low footswitch count (2-4)
- small form factor
- power over USB-C (plus 9 volt)
- Focus mode carries over from big boy flagships but not the other cool functions
- Nexus jack and two sizes of extra footswitch accessories available (could have wireless option as well) that works just like the regular footswitches. Make them stick to the base unit somehow and there’s no need for an Stadium Stomp XL SKU


In general I’d like to see a unit that could work on a pedalboard, as a standalone practice unit and as a glorified audio interface tied to your computer with an extra foot controller on the floor. Take the brains from your desk and stick it on your pedalboard when needed. Flexible and full featured so you can rely on it for a lot of use cases and don’t have to buy additional cheap knockoff modelers for portability etc.

If you always want it on the pedalboard then there can be an app that mirrors the touchscreen on the unit for those that are okay with smartphone/ipad use for dialing in tones and don’t want to bend down constantly.

I really like the Focus mode and would like a lot to people to get their hands on it.

I made a mockup.

This is a fantastic rendering. However when I think about the real world application of this box, it would probably be more for the studio. This would more likely take the place of a Helix Rack.

A stomp version that would live on a pedal board would have to have a smaller screen with different graphics to suit it. I feel like the largest the screen could go would be something like my iPhone with GarageBand on a chassis slightly smaller than a Stomp XL.

However, if the thing has Bluetooth, then it could just be similar in size to the stomp we know and love and all the big GUI functionality is done on another device.

After using the Hotone Ampero 2 Stomp, I have hard time imagining this sort of device any other way. That has a small 4" touchscreen and it's not an issue for the UI it has. So I'm thinking if Line6 shrink Stadium's display from 8" to the Hotone A2 Stage size 5", that would still work without issue. We are still talking about a unit that is slightly smaller than the A2 Stage, if I estimate from my mockups.

The Hotone is already not quite as limited as the HX Stomp so it makes a better "almost everything you need" than a "center of your pedalboard" device. Line6 could do something even smaller where the editing is left to wireless editing on a phone or tablet like the Nano Cortex does.

The great thing about a touchscreen besides how easy it is to use, is if it’s not your bag use the knobs or a phone app. But pulling out a phone, connecting, launching an app or even all ready to go, it’s still another device. The touchscreen is just there and always ready to go.

I hear people say why would I want to bend down to tweak? Well, that’s what you did before with knobs and menus. It’s certainly better than that. At any rate, touchscreens are here to stay and the option to use your phone if preferred should be available. I’m not going to speak for @laxu but after using the sweet touchscreen on my Ampero Stage, I don’t ever wanna go back. A nice design on layout quickly becomes usable by almost muscle memory and you can do a LOT real quick. Like crazy quick.

I actually use an angled plug on my 2.1-2.5 current doubler cable - but it goes straight down below the board to the multiout PSU. And the one mine came with fortunately had a straight plug.
Also still wondering about that strange PSU brick-ish thing. I mean, if it delivered pristine quality, I'd be kinda fine. But it doesn't - or maybe it does, but it's not better than pretty much anything else. A €9,90 (1A output) one from Rockboard is simply delivering the same low noise.
I really, really love the Stomp, but there's been some strange decisions made. Anyhow, I soldered a Y-split to the original PSU, so I can now as well power any other pedals with the additional 2.1 barrel plug, lives in my utility case.

Probably "so that people don't try to plug in PSUs not capable of powering the unit". But with no marking for "2.5mm" on the box, it's hard to tell the difference. I think they should go for the standard 2.1mm on the next unit.

Edit: I'm chuckling over how AI chose to represent "Line 6" as "Lane G". Way back in the OG Spider Valve days, a fellow forumite and I would turn our Line6 logos on the amp upside down so it looked like "9ɘu!7". Kinda reminds me of that. It made the amp sound better, by the say.

Sure, I get that.
But then, people are fine with using gazillions of other 9V powered devices featuring a 2.1mm plug and usually there's very little issues finding a suitable PSU. Seriously, 2.1 barrel plugs for 9V powered devices are almost as much as a standard as DIN MIDI plugs.
