Line 6 Helix Stadium Talk

As with any units, I like some better than others. Regardless, Agoura is a great step forward. Tbh I never jived with the HX models and it took a decent amount of work for me to like them. Agoura is pretty effortless.....and the stadium is just plain fun to use!
I can actually get good tones from HX models, but when Axe III came out, I kept my Helix Floor until FM9 Turbo came out. So FM9 was my all floor unit and Axe FX III was my studio and big gig rig.

Once they add more Agoura stuff, I'll probably use Stadium XL a lot more, but I won't be getting rid of my two Fractal boxes!
They will help finance 4th gen Fractal in the future.

Going by videos, the Agoura one seems like a huge improvement.
The videos don't do it justice at all. In fact, I was kinda let down with what I heard on the official videos. I struggled to get good sounds from the HX Essex A30. It just had a weird breakup character and playing with drives stomps into it was okay at best. The Agoura model is aces. I do 98% of my playing on this model so it needs to sound good. It does not disappoint.

No. This is after the update to 1.1 Apparently started happening a couple days ago. When you boot up, it says your login failed. You can dismiss the dialogue and everything works fine. I was also able to login to Helix Stadium Edit with no problem, but the unit itself still gives the "cannot login to selected server" message.

As far as I can tell, zero functionality hit, but it seems like it could interfere with the update to 1.2 if they don't figure it out (which I am 180 percent certain they will).
I got logged out a few days ago also. It generated a new QR code, which didn't work. The website seemed to be down at the time. Instead I was able to click something on the device to let me log in manually with a user name and password instead of using the QR code. That's what I was referring to. This was all after updating to 1.1 also. Check in the global settings and see if you can log back in manually with a user name and password instead of the QR code method which seemed to not work for a lot of people (including me).

Edit: I forgot to mention. After I logged back in manually, I haven't had any issues with getting logged out since, so it seems like you need to try that.

Yeah, I always found the HX one to be pretty good at extremes, but never quite right in-between. It's great to hear that the Agoura one is even better than it sounds in videos, which I already felt was an improvement.

I’ve had Stadium for a little over a week and every piece of digital audio hardware I own feels like a drag to use in comparison. I’m tapping all kinds of screens that aren’t touch screens and it’s frustrating as hell.
I did that on Helix Floor last NAMM in front of a YouTuber and he caught me. “Uh… I must be working in the future or something.”

By all accounts the Helix Stadium is a winner no doubts and really its just a very young product only to get better with time, like everything else one might prefer the sound of one amp from say the previous Helix or a Fractal or QC, but thats mostly IMHO preference not better or worse and besides dont we all hear things slightly different ? tone perception is wildly different between people, even when listening to the exact same sound.Tone is 50% physics, 50% psychology.

Maybe it's a case of being a lemming, but I had a few minutes last night waiting for a football game to start and decided to spend some time using reverb a bit more prominently than I normally would. I started off with the Dreambient preset, whichever snapshot came up by default. Even though the reverb mix in the preset is a good bit higher than I would dial up on my own I found it more enjoyable than expected. Similar thing to what I've noticed with amps--there just seems to be room for all of the overtones to breathe without feeling like there's a sonic cat fight happening. I dunno if that's due to some of the hardware upgrades related to oversampling and noise floor, or because the reverb (glitz iirc) is being fed by a tonal ensemble from the Agoura amp (Princess iirc) that's a little more coherent. The latter is my current theory. Just felt like their wasn't as much stomping on other tones going on compared to what I remember with attempts at thicker reverbs with my OG LT. Not something apt to become a core tone for me, but not something I'll be as inclined to steer clear of if I'm in the mood for something a little different.

To return once again to the unfortunate topic of USB audio latency...

@yek has just posted his RTL measurements of the Fractal AM4 in the Fractal forum:
5ms @32 samples /48 kHz,
6,3ms @64 samples / 48 kHz and
9ms @128ms /48 kHz.

These values are actually quite good and refute the claims of those who argue that amp modellers are technically incapable of achieving usable low latencies.

I don’t recall what they are, but somewhere in this thread someone posted values. IIRC DI also replied that those times may eventually improve.

We’re not likely to see an ultra low latency RTL (< 5ms) from Stadium but those fractal numbers aren’t terrible.

Yeah I did - they are indexed at the beginning of this thread.

That’s very good actually. It’s like my Motu M2

I really don’t have the honeymoon thing going on much anymore, especially with modelers. My expectations that it’s going to be the gates of tone heaven opening up when I get my hands on new things just doesn’t really happen to me anymore so when I like something at first and it works for a gig or studio… that never really goes away for me. It seemed to happen to me more in the past where I think I thought the grass was always greener. I sell things and move on not because the honeymoon is over with it… it’s more so because my tastes have changed over time or it’s time to thin the gear down.

If I go to settings and then to Account Login, all I get is the message about the server not being able to be found. There are no other options, no QR code, no user name. Nothing.

But I tried disconnecting from the wi-fi network and reconnecting. It took several goes, and the interface was glacial, but I managed to enter my username and password and I am currently logged back in. It will be interesting to see if I'm logged out on reboot, but I don't think I'll try that right now.

Hmm that's weird. It's good that you were able to get back in. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I have a few weeks in between gigs, so I'm contemplating working the Stadium into my pedalboard and replacing the FM9 (for now). I currently have everything on a TRIO 28 which is plenty big for it, the GM-800 and the VG-800. I only have one of the large Temple quick release plates and I don't really want to mess with trying to use that method to mount it anyway. Anybody have suggestions for mounting it other than that?
