The first live stereo gigs I saw was T Rex then Slade .
Both Sounded great but to many girls screaming to really get any benefit from it.
I think the T Rex Stereo system was loaned out ( for cash) at the time to a few bands .
Paul McCartney had a brilliant sounding live stereo system built for his massive Wings world tour.
That was rented out to many of the big bands when Wings weren't using it.
The game changed after Pink Floyd started renting out there whole live stages after the Pulse.

Such a privilege seeing the show from that close. Chad & Justin were SUPER generous with their time and gave us a tour of the mothership backstage - absolutely mind blowing how much A/V stuff they travel with. A few Axe-Fx's, guitars and cabs seems straightforward in comparison to everything else going on. Totally elite across the board.

I took a bunch of pics and I'll have to do a video talking about the whole experience when I finally process it 🤣

You got to hold "the" V. Oof! That is awesome!

They sounded stellar when we saw them in Nashville earlier this year. You got to see them with Suicidal it looks like. They are awesome \m/ Their old guitarist (Rocky George) would be a good video topic as well. Dude was sooooo good back in the day.

Post up the post-gig report when you get to it! :satan

I was just talking to a mate about them recently, wondering the same thing! They did really well here for a few years and were great live. From what I gather they're on hiatus.

I know and play with some of the Vool guys here in Perth. Very much looking forward to their new album.

Cog, Chaos Divine, Caligula's Horse and SleepMakesWaves are a few other awesome Ausprog bands 🤘

So glad you're giving some Aussie bands the shout out.

Cog are mightily good. At one point they were the biggest hard rock band to come out of Australia. Man, I remember seeing Karnivool open for them at Northcote Social Club back in the day... that feels like an eternity ago.

Also glad that they're gearing up to release a new album. 🤘

Leo, what kind of weird feet fetish is going on between you and John Cordy? Are your toes really bigger than his? 🦶🙈 :wat

That was a Showco system.
That was rented out to many of the big bands when Wings weren't using it.
That's a bit off the mark. Showco was in the business of rental concert sound reinforcement - they were at the time either the largest or second-largest such company in the world - and they had numerous other clients, including Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, and the Rolling Stones. The Wings tour system comprised a collection of Showco's cabinets, amp racks, consoles, etc., just like all the other tours Showco provided sound for. The specific configuration of a system was arrived at in cooperation with the artist, their tour managers, and their accounting firms.
The game changed after Pink Floyd started renting out there whole live stages after the Pulse.
That almost worked for a minute. It dawned on both PF and the Dead pretty quickly that owning and fielding your own concert PA - and all the logistical and personnel issues that go wiith it - is not a financially viable exercise.

Pink Floyd owned three complete rigs for when they toured.
One being used one being taken down and one on its way to next stadium.

Oooh. I was wondering a while back how some of the big tours pulled off moving their rigs so quickly. At the time I just through “oh well, it’s magic” and just moved on.
