Well, if they’re smart, the on-computer profiling is also some sort of machine learning, to get a more advanced/nuanced capture to account for stuff like this.
But Christoph Kemper seems like the kind of guy who invites others to smell his fart, so who knows.

I think over the years there's been some real CK fart sniffing on the part of the online Kemper community itself, to the point where people spent substantial time arguing against having new features, over and over. I eventually begun to believe some view the Kemper toaster as their romantic partner. It made more sense that way.

But eventually Kemper themselves did release an editor, floor unit, even tone stack modelling. So they do respond to market demand eventually (and more) even if it takes a while. So here we are with, if the heavens allow, improved profiling too.

I am not an EE or whatever Orvillain is (he explained earlier in the thread but my non-engineer brain only remembers he's an aliasing-something). I don't understand half of the technical things he or the EE person say. But I do care about accuracy, not just "sounding good".

lol I'm not an EE. I think the wanky LinkedIn term is "polymath" - but it really just means I'm interested in lots of things, can turn my hand to many things, but I'm really unlikeable and drowning in ADHD and suicidal ideation.

Oh I was referring to OnEng as the EE specifically, and you the aliasing-something, but my wording was unclear :) Was at the beach thinking of death stranding 2 and the impending doom of all existence (meaning I can relate to the ideation).

Kemper announced a new paint job and a firmware update with new profiling that is coming this summer, but they haven't said what is new about the profiling or if it's better than the current profiling.

So, yes, nothing, yet here we are, 168 pages later.

Without thinking too hard NDSP is the gold standard. I don’t ever really get lost or bogged down using it, pretty easy to get a sound and move on. I guess If you took that and tweaked it a bit you could land on some improvements. Maybe you could have a window below the amp to have the pre/post stomps/eq pages so you can keep the big amp up there while tweaking. You’d probably still want a dedicated view for the cab section but it’s some idea.

Most amp sims are alternated of NDSP, I guess the other style is more block based like amplitube, cortex control, TMP, axe edit and helix style. I’m probably used to axe edit on a computer but out of all I’ve tried I find axe edit the best with mouse and keyboard if you wanted to go that block style route for some reason.

If I was designing an amp sim I’d probably lean on the NDSP layout and really focus on the best amp modelling possible paired with competent/authentic IRs. I’d also heavily focus on graphics and UI to look quality. Id also make sure the default preset sounds great across 10-20-30 peoples setups, so when someone first opens it their first impression is top notch.

From there I’d look to amps that haven’t been modelled 1000 times and try to tribute whatever’s being modelled so you’re really paying homage to that plugin (if I was doing Orange stuff I’d lean into it with IRs of 1x12, 2x12, 4x12 cabs. Also have some color schemes like the black model skins for the amps/cabs etc).

Thing is: calling oneself unlikable can make them more likable, considering many of us have the experience of an internal judging voice roaming in our heads.

The way I see it, Orvillain's self-deprecating characterization practically invites the empathy we may have trouble directing towards ourselves (at times) and guides it the way of another person, which many find easier to do.

But I also view it as a reminder to be kind towards oneself -- a reminder of that possibilty.

If you look at the Kemper Rack and Stage price trends on Reverb, Kemper has been on a steady decline for years. The Mk2 announcement hasn't made much of a change to the used prices.

The stage runs around 1k. Head and rack run around 800.

Personally I recommend these used over anything else. The value is incredible, especially for a gigging musician.

I just automated my show with a cme widi midi master and band helper. This and a used stage rivals even the best touring setups out there.... On the cheap!

I would definitely look at the Stage over the Rack/Toaster. The Stage has integrated WiFi and that editor is pretty solid. Also I think as it's newer the response time is a little faster.
