Kemper Profiler MK 2

Keep waiting for the Triaxis, and keep enjoying those thumbnails!
In the age of modelers, it's amazing to me the company that made the first real analog modeler isn't keeping up with the times. Instead they're releasing old tech - 2 channel non-midi amps at ludicrous prices. IDK what they're doing. At least the Mark VII is a great modern amp.

Meanwhile Synergy is thriving, Soldano has diversified to rack gear again along with pedals and Synergy modules, Fryette is thriving in rack gear. Mesa is stuck creatively for some reason.

I have owned a Kemper on a few occasions and really could never get it to sound “right” either. I also don’t understand the people who claim they can’t hear a difference from the amp. Sure they are some pretty good profiles out there, but there is a difference. I guess some people just can’t hear it, or don’t want to admit it - as they are all in on the Kemper and it’s simply good enough. With the latest NAM, Tonex and NDSP tech. The Kemper is way behind

Yup. I’m not exactly delighted with Mesa, at this point.

Yeah, I mean that's really who they're taking marching orders from. The whole "we'll continue to operate independently" was obviously horseshit.
Did you see the video Randall Smith put out where he talked about not understanding why the IIC+ was re-released when the VII has in his opinion the best version of the IIC sound?

Good times. I definitely feel like the reissues were forced. There was no need to discontinue the MW rectifiers.

So from my understanding that the camper two or whatever it’s called it’s a whole new hardware unit and the original campers or the stage or the powered camper cannot be updated software wise to make it a mark 2??? is that correct????
If it is then shame on Kemper for not updating the screen because that is pretty sad that they didn’t even embellish the screen or evolve it in someway

Yes. Good enough means good enough. It’s not code.
You are the one who is projecting a need for “enough” to also cover “as good as it can be” and then becoming indignant when others don’t adopt your custom definition and push back at how you demand your perspective be the benchmark.
I never said "as good as it can be" I said "as good as it really should be"

My perspective has measurements and science behind. It is the benchmark.

ner ner ne ner ner.

There's been quite a few people over the years who have claimed they can't hear a difference.

I'm aware of that. But it's really something I don't care about. Seriously, for me there's good enough and not good enough. And if there's improvements to render good enough better or not good enough to good enough, I applaud such efforts. As easy as that.

"It doesn't matter."
"The audience will never know."
“No one can tell in a mix anyway.”
“If it sounds good, it is good.”
“Nobody cares but guitar players.”
“It’s 95% there—good enough.”
“You’re just being too picky.”
“You’re supposed to tweak it after profiling.”
“It’s not meant to be exact, just close.”
“That amp had bad tubes or a weird mic position anyway.”
“Try profiling it again—maybe something went wrong.”
“It’s close enough for live shows.”
“Why lug around 80 lbs of gear for a 5% difference?”
“I sold all my amps and don’t miss them.”
“You can’t beat the convenience.”
“Tone is in the fingers.”
“Music is about emotion, not fidelity.”
“Chasing tone is a waste of time.”
“You're just romanticizing analog gear.”
“I A/B’d them and couldn’t tell the difference.”
“You’re imagining the difference.”
“Placebo effect—Kemper wins blind tests.”
“You must not know how to dial it in.”

Apologia for dogshit.
