Kemper Profiler MK 2

So, no dual amps. Wouldn't exactly need it myself, but some people claim it's super important for them.
Ah well, I might want it myself, too, because usually I hate any kind of patch switching live (the Kemper with its locked parameter functions might get away, though) and rather slap a kitchen sink thing together.

Ah true , you know what I like Kemper if they can release a free update to the player that make it sound better than the ToneX and Cortex that would be great for them as the effects are already pretty decent
On their site they mention the new profiling will be available on the kpp as a freebie.

QC,Tonex, already current Kemper…to me they all the job when it comes to captures.

Efx they are ahead of QC and tonex imo

Classic Kemper to leave the hardware UI essentially unchanged. Even the Mk I had evolved (within the first couple of years!) to a point where the "A B C D X MOD DLY REV" buttons felt like square holes for round pegs. That should be extra fun with an "incredible 20 blocks" and that same little green screen.

all running with zero added signal latency.

It's like having an entire, fully integrated pedalboard with pedal essentials at your feet — but one that boots in seconds, never needs rewiring, and always remembers your settings.
So, like every single competing product since the late '90s?

I'm sure it will sound amazing, and the Kemper faithful will be happy, but it feels a little like fixing what ain't broke, and leaving what is. (FAS has entered the chat.)

It’s interesting that they are saying the player already had the upgrades and better sounds
If that is the case that should be easy to verify for those who have a player and OG toaster or stage
I can’t recall anyone saying this player sounds different or noticeably better than my OG and I am sure we would have seen those threads
Nope. That is not what they are saying. They are saying that the Player hardware will deliver the new playback system WHEN OS 13.0 arrives, not on OS12. (Edit - seems Beta OS 13 has hit the fan already.)

Interesting they've bolded that part out - wonder if they were indeed able to go beyond what even NAM can achieve in profiling.

Is there legit some beef there between FAS and Kemper wrt to the devices they use (and perhaps how long each party deems them to be useful)?
Not beef but there have been graph wars over the years a time or two:rofl Stubborn Christoph retorting with "we don't require our users to buy new hardware every 'x' amount of years". Obviously that retort is no longer valid given the topic at hand :bag
What makes you think they use the same chip?
Mainly just talking out my butt :grin The calculator screen to me screams "we're using the same thing we always have; we've just found a way to make things runs more efficiently"

Over 60 seconds typically, depending on how many profiles were in the unit. It's a really long boot time. Even 20 seconds is kind of long IMO.
Yeah I agree 20 seconds is a lot these days. But a marked improvement nonetheless. If Helix is about 15 seconds, that's in the range of "not going to bother anyone too much".

Pff Quad Cortex is probably at the tail-end of that lol; feels like growing a beard every time that unit needs to boot up.

I think we're past that point now thankfully. Kemper releasing new hardware after a 15 year run, Line 6 about to celebrate 10 years of Helix, and the Axe FX 3 has been out for over 7 years already! Even Quad Cortex is coming up on 5 years. The flagship hardware modelers have a pretty good lifespan nowadays.

On the UX/UI, I don't mind the simple screen sometimes. I actually don't mind the GT-1000 interface at all because it's so quick and easy to get around. It's when you have to do anything more complex like MIDI or assigning control switches that it becomes a nightmare.

I'll be interested to see a live demo of the Kemper, but man it was annoying to try to scroll through pages of profiles or effect presets when there was a half second refresh time between them. That's where the tiny screen is still going to be a big drawback.

If ^these^ 4 dot-point "claims" become reality across the whole spectrum of the Amps Gain/EQ controls - then that's "the money shot" as they say :)
All the people now saying accuracy doesn’t matter go play a gig, will suddenly revel in the fact the kemper is the most accurate and have that at the forefront of the conversation 🤣

FWIW I want the update to be awesome, but the realist in me thinks otherwise. Happy to see it scrutinised up against NAM and the others, hopefully it does well
