But not all inaccuracies are the same.

I agree 100%. What I don't agree with is that if you start with a good capture and want to change it a little, you need to own the amp and make a new capture. That's purely a mental hangup certain people have. Realistically, you can adjust a capture/profile quite a bit before you need a new one. It depends on the amp and the changes, but much of what changes with the knobs is not so non-linear and unique that you can't get to the same place in a different way with tools provided by the capture tech.

By my rough calculations, KPA V2 Profiling is now more than 4 months late plus the Website is unchanged from announcement date .... and zero updates / communications from KPA about current status .... pretty f*cking crazy way to announce and run and [not] roll out such a [supposedly] massive update and change.

A profiler exists in order to reproduce a real amplifier. Reproduction necessarily implies reference. Reference necessarily implies accuracy (to some degree). Therefore, accuracy is not a preference, it is the raison d’être.

It”s bad that they’ve missed their announced release date, but their real problem is all their competitors have made major advances since Kemper”s announcement of the new profiling last April. What seemed like an update that would get them back in the game now looks like it will be too little too late.

That screws with my mind. How easy would it be to update that shit? Hard to imagine they don't have control of their own site.

But they won't do it. They rather micro manage and ban paying customers than spend a minute to make themselves look a little better.
They could be running crappy handcoded html from 1997, and it would still only take about 30 seconds to update the word "summer" to "we lie through our teeth!" and maybe even change the font to comic sans.

I always found Kemper tones to fall apart the more you messed with them. Not just with EQ, but also the definition controls….. There’d be a pretty narrow window where it sort of resembles the amp and once you start adjusting things, it turns into a kind of weird sounding digital thing. Liquid Profiles didn’t really help with that at all, and that was essentially my final straw with Kemper. The tone would change in a different way by using a tone stack but you’d still be moving towards something a bit weird sounding. There’s so much heavy handed EQ going on already, I think there’s some merit in the path of least obstacles. I’m not saying that they’re useless for everyone (in a pinch boosting a bit more low end or top end could be fine) but it was always enough of a compromise for me that I’d rather have more captures at different settings than trying to bend something into place. For someone else, that might be different.

When you load up a profile, you’re already thinking about what amp and sound you are going for. It’s not really a case of just searching for something good - you’re targeting something a bit more specific than that. It’s also very easy to dismiss things that on paper should be within a few tweaks of what you want, but sound miles away. No point tweaking something if it’s a long way off to begin with.

Does anyone think Helix Stadium Proxy will be released before KPA profiling v2?

No idea when line 6 plans to release proxy... But when profiling v2 was announced, I got the impression it was right around the corner. Under testing with select vendors and such. Now, God knows what problems they may have found, what amps this potentially fails with, etc etc.

There are a few rare circumstances where there would be a problem, but your guess on the cause is wrong.

It’s not a guess. Not sure what your hang up is, or why you choose to be so rude, but I’ve used Tonex since it came out, as well as NAM, as well as a friend who owned Kemper. They do NOT handle EQ changes well for amps like Mesa with highly variable/interactive EQ and gain. They do not behave like the real amp. This matters.

This thread is always like stepping into the wastelands lmao I don’t think once I’ve ever poked in here and witnessed positive energy

That's because there's always a couple smug individuals who can't accept people don't like what they like. It hurts their feelings, for some reason.

Alrighty then, continue acting like a dick, and thinking you know everything. How many Mesas have you owned? How many have you captured?
I know I’m coming in super late here but my opinion on the Mark captures -

I agree with you that you can’t shape a capture in the way you can with the EQ behavior of a Mark, BUT if it’s your amp and you’ve gotten your tone on your Mark, and you capture that tone for your current convenience or touring purposes, then ideally you wouldn’t need to mess with those settings in the first place, other than minor tweaks

That's what I've already said. If you own the amp(s), capturing is awesome. I'm totally on board with that.
