Is electric guitar dead for gen alpha?

They’ve been saying guitar is dead with the next generation since the early ‘60s

Seems like usually when people say “guitar is dead” what they actually mean is “guitar-based rock music is dead”, not the instrument itself

I’m also not convinced about the whole “the young generation doesn’t have the attention span for ________” thing either.

I know a kid who was born in 2010 who is currently 230 pages into a novel he’s writing

Can electric guitar do much other than pop, rock and jazz? Yngwie, I guess...

Rock had a decent run, but now seems to be niche like Jazz - even more so once split into varieties of Metal and so on.

I listen to a lot of barouque-classical-romantic music, but we are not going to get another Bach, Beethoven or Schubert. That era and world is gone - but not forgotten.

Where I live there is no live rock music, just an occasional accoustic/singer in a bar at a volume for dinner conversation. There are more concerts for orchestras and string quartets. There are still people learning piano, violin and bassoon.
