iPad Amp Sims

And the last I tried, I couldn't find a way to get personal and purchased captures on it, unless they were on Tone Net. It could use some attention for sure!

I am a big fan of Tonex for some things, but it definitely has some major warts as well.
I made that request to them almost 2 years ago as I really only use amalgam captures and there’s no way to get them into iOS version. You can get the special collection packs though. The UI though….makes me stick to NAM

Not to hijack but also interested in hearing any strong preferences for iPhone compatible interfaces for these apps.

I hope that with Helix Stadium coming soon, and probably an ios editor, we will eventually get a new Stadium Native that works on ios.
I’m with you but not holding my breath. Often times a mobile app means an iOS or mobile-specific dev team, which is pricey. I suspect that’s why IK has been so sluggish with mobile updates for Tonex. They probably contracted that app out and don’t have an in house domain expert.

Yeah, been hearing that for too long now. At first I was holding off buying until the Mac version came out, but now I am questioning if I really trust them at all.
It was always going to be after 2.0 release. It’s a one man operation. He’s got a kanban board you can follow showing exactly what he’s working on and what’s planned next, been that way for years. Actually a solid dude and very transparent about pretty much everything.

If you’re actually serious about it - RME babyface pro is what I ended up at after working may way through lower end and mid/high level stuff. Wish I had of just bought the BF right off the bat. It can operate in class compliant mode for iPhone and iPad and be usb powered from both. It gives latency comparable to actual hardware which most interfaces can’t do, there’s also TotalMix pro app for iOS so you can control your levels and use it as a mixer. It’s also a solid ass chunk of aluminum and bulletproof. It’s also a great interface for use with a laptop too. RME has history of supporting and things decades old and their drivers are gold standard.

Well, it was coming soon 2 years ago and still coming soon today, so I am a little hesitant to invest in the platform. More my time than the $30, because it will take me forever to learn how to use the damn thing.

Not sure how the release of the Mac version affects you learning how to use it. I’ve been using it for probably close to 10 years now? It’s not like it’s some new upstart that’s going to be gone tomorrow. No different than modelling companies releaseing new versions every 4-5 years.

Because I am only really interested in it as a Mac product? I could buy the iPad version to try it out, but it would be a waste of my time if the Mac version is another 2 years away.

Ahhhh. Sorry I misunderstood. I was thinking that since it was an iPad thread you were saying you didn’t want to buy the iOS version unit there was a Mac one to go along with it

NamXT and Gigfast lite are made by the same company. The only advantage to gigfast is it has amps built in already. If you just want to load external NAM files NamXT is cheaper (and doesn’t have Ui features that won’t be used taking up screen real estate)
GigFast also has FX if you do not want f*ck around with other stuff but want a little extra processing on your signal. NAM XT can do two profiles at once and has an IR loader but that is it.

Not trying to be pushy but honestly, GigFast Lite and NAM XT are both solid options if you’re after real amp tone and feel.

GigFast Lite especially can handle a lot of live situations on its own: gapless preset switching, FX trails, a super accurate tuner, 10 multi-channel amp models, and a full pre/post FX chain. It’s lean but powerful.

Since we’re celebrating our first year, both apps are 75% off right now, which is making them great option considering what they offer. And yeah — one purchase works on all your Apple devices (Mac + iOS), both as standalone apps and AUv3 plugins

I’m giving it a shot.

I bought a USB-C dock(off AMZ) for my iPad Air and used a Scarlett Solo, also able to use a USB MIDI keyboard.
If you have an older Lightning conn style, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Gigfast sounds good, but I’m getting a lot of what sounds like a ground loop noise when I try some NAM profiles. Any ideas?

If built in amps sound good, they are basically NAM models so they should have this issue as well. If this occurs while using some NAM models but not all of them there maybe problems with the actual model. Instead of assuming you can send us the models that have the noise and we can check what is wrong with them.

Let me try it on my Mac too, and see what it does. Might have been the interface, as the built-in models were a bit noisy too, just not as much.
