I Want a Headless

I just placed an order for a GOC. Almost 1k out the door. They sure aren't the super bargain they were a few months ago, but it still seems like a great guitar for sub 1k. I'm excited.

I hope you find it worth it like I did. Which one did you go for?

The Vajra 6+ in this fancy red.

How do the pickups compare to the Bare Knuckle cobra’s that they are copying?
The BK for those that aren’t familiar with it;

It’s normally unique for its blade positioning.

I don't know how they compare because I've never played the BKP ones. I just know they are very good, and very hot.

It's currently my best sounding guitar.

GOC came in today. Overall I'm happy with it, but it's not perfect.

Btw I decided to change to the Ferrari red color last minute lol.

Overall fit and finish is great. However, some things bother me.

First, I went to check if the volume knob is push pull, and it popped off effortlessly. I know I can get one with a detent screw, but it's annoying how easily the knob comes off.

Second, I get the Strandberg zero fret ping right out of the box on the G string while doing aggressive bends. Again annoying, but not the end of the world.

Third, it's heavy. For a headless anyways. Mine clocks in at just under 7lbs. For comparison, my Strandberg Essential is like 4.3lbs. My HILS was similar. Still, in the grand scheme, 7 pounds is definitely far from too heavy.

Fourth, if you look at the last picture, part of the finish on the neck had an air bubble in it that popped, and now the finish is stripping off from that point. I don't mind terribly, but once again it's annoying.

Fifth, the frets feel tiny. I think it's just that they're so wide. I prefer a more narrow, tall fret. Not sure if they plek these before they send them out or something.

All that aside, the good news is the guitar plays wonderfully. Came tuned up out of the box. Neck was dead flat so I added just a hair of relief. No buzz or dead frets. Tuners are nice and easy to turn. The pickups actually sound pretty killer. Their new bridge design is really nice, feels robust and it's dead simple to intonate. Shape feels good against the body. Think I'll hang onto it.
