I Want a Headless

The quality on the one I had was awful. Terrible fretwork, router made hole near the nut, finish flaking off the bridge, worst quilt top ever etc.

I've tried others that were better, but I'm insulted that the guitar was sold in the first place.

Endurneck did nothing to help my playing, and it was annoyingly thick at the first few frets so my hand would cramp. I remember the other Strandbergs I've tried, mostly MIJ models, being more normal in this regard.
Sounds terrible but it not representative.

Enough for me to never buy from the company. That guitar passed QA, arrived to Sweden, got shipped to me in Finland and I had to be the first to say "that's not right!"

While many companies pass guitars with minor flaws, this is the first time I had like a whole bag full of them.

They even put the guitar back on sale without marking it as B-stock, only days after return was confirmed, it popped up as the only one of that model and color.

That is pretty terrible.

Is that what inspired your avatar? Sorry that happened to you. I've pretty much sworn off buying online anymore, but I can say that now that I live within driving distance of a ton of stores. I have no idea what the guitar buying prospects look like in Finland, but if you don't mind exporting your healthcare and educational systems to the US, I'd really appreciate it!

We actually have a pretty good selection in stores, but not all brands are available. Headless guitars were much less common back then, let alone 8-string models.

The fuck!???

I can fully underdtand that! That‘s terrible indeed.
That is far from my experience with Strandberg.
I also bought my guitar directly from Strandberg.
Dealing with the company
My Boden Fusion NX is on paar with my Music Man LIII in terms of quality and I do prefer the sound and playability of the Strandberg.

My experience with the Customer support was also top notch. They did send my a Brass Trem Block just because I wanted to know what‘s the difference in Sound is compared to the aluminum block.
My Boden is my No.1 Guitar.
Sorry for your bad experience.

I would agree that the vast majority of Strandberg models I get in are as well built as any other similar priced guitar including mine.

Price wise, I’d have no objection to buying an essential like right now….

A few problems though.

A. I don’t like any of the finishes, at all
B. While I realize that multi scale on a 6 string probably isn’t really that big of a deal I would still feel like I’m missing out on the full “strandberg experience”
C. If I DID end up really liking it then I’d just be wishing I dropped the extra $750 on at least a standard.

Whole conundrum is driving me a bit nutty. Even worse, I actually have quite a few IRL homies who have or have had strandbergs, and ironically they’re literally split down the middle of either “this is the greatest guitar I’ve ever owned” and “these guitars are shit and have been nothing but a headache/problem”. Not helping things! :rofl

Headless hardware is a learning curve and you really need to string up with more care. The mistake most make is not tightening up the nut enough or making sure the string is central in the housing at you lock it. Get that wrong and you won’t stay in tune.

I also have a Cutlass RS HSS and I agree, the Strandberg is now my #1.

Have an NX6 Standard in my cart.. teetering back and forth still but I'm probably gonna do it...

I've been on the strandberg subreddit all morning though, and I'm not gonna lie its kind of grim in there and not inspiring a lot of confidence. But I guess worst case scenario would just be getting stuck in a cycle of sending stuff back

I almost canceled my order but I’m glad I kept it. It’s legitimately better feeling in the hand than my EBMM Cutlass is. I wasn’t expecting it.

That's encouraging. 99% certain I'm gonna do it... although I just did a local used sweep and a neck through boden Prog just was posted locally for a suspiciously low price. No photos in the ad and some typos, but I'm investigating the lead just in case. Gotta do all my due diligence
