I joined a new band. I think???

There it is! Finally - the real reason for this. A “need” for new gear! Bravo!! 🎉

Now the band has a purpose for your life. 🤣

Ha. I also bought the Nord for this band. The "need" is lighting the load and not f'up my studio gear.

The Nord only weighs 10.7 pounds. A light guitar rig "needs" to match that low weight class and size.

Last night, the band finally got back into the rehearsal studio (minus the female singer). Bassist wasn't prepared with the material at all but seems to be a quick learner and good player. Not really concerned there. Guitarist and drummer struggled some still with the new songs of mine, but I feel like there was progress.

I changed my setup to include a guitar rig with my new GX-100. This, while reducing my keys rig to just the Nord Lead A1 and leaving my Roland Fantom at home. Trying to K.I.S.S and light while helping out on guitar duties.

I'm gonna hang in there for a while. See where things go. Slow, if not steady, may still win the day ;)

You bought a new guitar today because you are so excited about this project. Right? :idk

Just curious, what's on your set list of covers and original tunes do you have ?

When I was a touring gypsy/ musician, I noticed that "A Market/ Big Cities" wanted to hear more original songs, at least 30% to 50%.
"B" Market/ Medium Cities" , at least 15 % to 20% originals.
"C Markets / Medium- small towns, almost 5% to 10 % originals.
But we noticed that after going into the smaller markets, some places wanted to hear more originals, but in those markets we tended to shed the covers more will each gig.

Well, the “band” (if I can actually call them that) I started this thread about was roughly 80/20 originals / covers. I’m pretty much done with those guys as they can’t get anything off the ground. The second band I mentioned above is all originals. They do sometimes end their set with a single cover. I’m starting rehearsals with them this weekend and they have several gigs booked for next year.
