I confess my ignorance. Is using a BB into Plexis and JCM800’s a thing? I usually hear about TS and SD being the go to and I certainly do that.

I’m thinking about getting a nice BB to try this out but thought I would ask. Any experiences to share?

i dunno why it would be. doesnt eric johnson play plexis and use a dirty charlie? i mean.. can it get more marshally? not that hes an idol of mine- but whatever works.

Since when? Not saying he hasn't tried it before but it's certainly not been his thing. He's consistently used a TS808, Tube Driver and Fuzz Face for a very long time.

I like using BB style pedals into the crunch channel of my JVM. Sounds great. Run a Klone after it for a boost

It works fine. I'd still probably take a TS, Klon or SD-1 over the BB for that purpose. I like the BB a lot into a Fender clean channel.

Exactly the kind of thing I wanted to know about! Considering a BB to push a Plexi. I don’t have one so it’ll be an investment.

Currently I use either my Klon copy or “clean” boost. Both work well but I love different flavors and options.
SD and TS as well but that is kind of tired for me. I may get the Keeley Noble Screamer to get those two option in one pedal space.

Yep. I run the Morning Glory through JTM45 or JCM800 for edge of breakup tones with my Strat. Works great.

I put the BB in the MIAB camp, which gets a bit too wooly when hitting already overdriving 1959/2203 amps. IMO MIAB circuits prefer totally clean amps.

The low gain channel inputs can work well though. You likely also end up in a war with both amps input bright cap, so consider adding a pull knob to bypass that cap if you’re married to pedal OD.
